In 2012, shortly before the Battle of New York, Eleanor, and her husband Derek, were arguing over whether they should sell their penthouse, as they were going through financial troubles. They hear a noise coming from their daughter Kate's bedroom and immediately know that she was eavesdropping on their conversation. Shortly after lunch, the Battle of New York begins, and the Bishop penthouse is partially destroyed by a Chitauri blast, with Kate staring out through the hole, where Eleanor finds her and carries her to safety. After the attack, Derek's body is found, and later Eleanor discovers that while they were going through their financial hardships, Derek had borrowed money from the crime boss Kingpin, and was unable to repay him due to being killed during the battle. Taking it upon herself, she reluctantly became an associate to repay her husband's debt.

Sometime in 2024, Eleanor began a romantic relationship with a wealthy socialite by the name of Jack Duquesne. After her return from school, Eleanor informs Kate that she canceled her credit cards after she partially destroyed Stane Tower. Eleanor reveals that she and Jack would be going to a charity gala and would like Kate to come. During the gala, Jack's uncle, Armand Duquesne III, also a wealthy socialite, informs her that Eleanor and Jack are now engaged. After this, Kate is reluctant, and Eleanor asks if she could be happy for her for once. Later that night, Armand finds out about her ties to Kingpin and interrogates her. Eavesdropping on their conversation, Kate asks Eleanor if he was threatening her, to which she replied that she was unsure. Later during the gala, there is an explosion underneath the building, which causes Eleanor to frantically call Kate to make sure she is okay, to no response. After the gala has ended, Eleanor is ordered by Kingpin to murder Armand, as he knew about their ties. Eleanor then murdered him at his home with a sword, which Jack is skilled at. Later that night, a fire breaks out in Kate's apartment, and after hearing about it, Eleanor calls her again, and Kate assures her that she is okay and will talk to her in the morning at work.

By the next morning, Armand Duquesne III's murder is all over the news, and when Kate arrives at work, she starts subtly interrogating Jack. Changing the subject, Eleanor then interrogates Kate about the fire at her apartment, to which she responds she easily escaped and is staying at her aunt Moira's apartment. Eleanor then invites Kate over for dinner, where Jack would be cooking risotto.

After the meal, Jack and Kate begin talking about swords, while Eleanor tries to change the subject. The two eventually agree to fence, with Eleanor spectating. After beating Jack multiple times, Kate furiously slashes her sword at Jack's face, to which he parries, and Kate begins to explain that Jack knew more about swords than he was letting on. Angered, Eleanor left the room.

Later, Hawkeye is held at sword point by Jack, after he mistakes him for an intruder. The noise leads Eleanor into the room, where Hawkeye and Kate explain that they are on a mission. Eleanor offers to walk Hawkeye out, where she tells him to protect Kate, as she cannot afford to lose her. Following their conversation, Eleanor contacts Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to enlist an assassin to assassinate Hawkeye.

During an unspecified time, Kingpin urgently tells Eleanor to list Jack as the CEO of a shell company named Sloan Limited in the Bishop Security records, in order for him to prevent being exposed.

After the fight outside Maya Lopez's apartment, Kate shows up at the Bishop penthouse with minor wounds, which Eleanor treats. Kate tells Eleanor how her dreams of becoming a superhero like Hawkeye have ended, to which Eleanor replied that Kate still has a bright future ahead of her, superhero or not. Kate then encourages Eleanor to look into Jack after discovering he was CEO of Sloan Limited, to which Eleanor reluctantly agrees.

The next day Kate shows up at the Bishop penthouse, to find Jack being arrested for money laundering, as he is shown to be the CEO of Sloan Limited in the security files. Eleanor reveals to Kate that she called the police on Jack after looking more into him but did not tell Kate that she framed him.

Kate eventually finds out that Yelena Belova, Natasha Romanoff's sister, has been sent to assassinate Hawkeye. Kate then encourages Yelena to find out who hired her.

On the morning of the 24th, Eleanor Bishop heads to a building to attend a meeting with Kingpin, though she is unaware that Yelena, the assassin Eleanor hired, is following her. After more than ten years, Eleanor decides to stop working for Kingpin, claiming that the debt that her husband owed him has been repaid, and the business is getting too dangerous with her daughter being back from school. She also reveals she printed copies of everything she had done relating to Kingpin for insurance reasons, using it as a warning so he does not come after her family. Enraged, Kingpin offers Eleanor a minute to think about what she is doing, but she refuses, and walks out. Later in the day, Yelena sends Kate a video recording of the meeting between Kingpin and Eleanor, revealing that she was the one who killed Armand and hired Yelena to kill Hawkeye.

At night, Eleanor's Christmas party begins, but unknown to her, Kingpin has ordered Kazi Kazimierczak, second-in-command of the Tracksuit Mafia, to assassinate her during the party, with the remaining members of the Mafia as backup. Shortly after arriving, Eleanor is intercepted by Kate, who tells her to stay in the pantry as protection. She refuses and heads back to the party. After Kazi starts to open fire, Hawkeye asks a LARPer named Orville to find Eleanor, but he discovers that she has left. Hawkeye then tells the other LARPers to look out for her, and Grills spots her leaving the party. Eleanor is escorted to her limousine by her bodyguard but shrieks as she discovers her driver has been shot dead. Her bodyguard then is thrown on top of the limousine and falls off. Kingpin then rips the car door off, saying that he just wanted to talk. Kate then finds her mother and distracts Kingpin, and during brief a fight between the two, Eleanor is able to crawl up to the driver's seat and crash the limousine into Kingpin, which sends him flying into a toy store. The impact of the crash left her temporarily unconscious, and after Kate is able to temporarily defeat Kingpin, she regains consciousness, and apologizes to Kate, saying she did it all for her. However, Kate is unable to forgive her mother for killing Armand, hiring Yelena to kill Hawkeye, and framing Jack for her crimes. The cops then show up after receiving a tip from Kate and arrest her for Armand's murder. Before she is taken away, she tries to guilt trip her daughter, saying, “Is this what heroes do, arrest their mothers on Christmas?” Kate apologizes and assures Eleanor she still loves her while cutting ties with her before the police take her away.
