Eli David Marienthal is an American former child actor, who, for Disney, portrayed Sam in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Dexter "Dex" Barrington in The Country Bears, and voiced Derek Minna, Computerized Stingray in the Fillmore! episode "Two Wheels, Full Throttle, No Breaks".
Marienthal was born in Santa Monica, California in 1986 and graduated from the private East Bay French-American School in Berkeley. His career started in Bay Area stage theater work, performing in shows, ` Missing Persons, Hecuba, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Every 17 Minutes the Crowd Goes Crazy.
While at school, he also continued to act and became famous for voicing Hogarth Hughes in the 1999 Warner Bros. film The Iron Giant directed by Brad Bird. He was also involved in numerous stage productions, voiced Robin (Tim Drake) in Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman and one episode of Static Shock, portrayed Tucker Pierce in the television series Tucker, and portrayed Steve Stifler's younger brother in American Pie and American Pie 2.
By his late teens, Marienthal left acting behind to become a full-time collage student. He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 2008 and as of February 2019, Marienthal is a doctoral candidate in geography at the University of California, Berkeley.
