- “I'm trying to get abducted... by aliens! These are signs I'm supposed to be up there! This mole is the exact shape of the Orion Nebula!”
- ―Elio in the second teaser trailer
Elio Solis is the titular protagonist of the upcoming 2025 Disney•Pixar animated feature film Elio. He is an 11-year-old boy, who wished to get abducted by aliens across the galaxy and is mistaken for the intergalactic ambassador of planet Earth.
Background[]
Physical appearance[]
Elio is a small, pre-teen boy with lightly tanned skin, brown eyes, dark brown wavy hair, and light freckles across his nose and cheeks. He wears a helmet that's a modified metal pot, a light green T-Shirt with a green alien head on it, dark green shorts, a green bracelet, white socks with a green line, dark blue shoes with white laces and brown soles on them, and a large violet cape with decorations (such as colorful plastic spoons, forks, and knives) and green on the back of the cape.
He additionally wears a scouts uniform consisting of an indigo button up short sleeved shirt, grey cargo shorts, dark green socks, black shoes with brown soles on them, and a tan sash. For the majority of the film he wears a blue eye patch on his left eye, heavily implying that he has ptosis. He also has a mole in the shape of the Orion Nebula on his stomach.[1]
Trivia[]
- Elio is Pixar's sixth titular character, after Nemo, WALL-E, Dory, Coco, and Luca.
- He is also the fourth titular character to be a protagonist, the first three being WALL-E, Dory, and Luca.
- Likewise, Elio is also the fourth titular character to just have the name on the title of a Pixar movie, after WALL-E, Coco, and Luca.
- His phone case is based on the bunny from the SparkShorts film Burrow, making it the second Pixar film to cameo this, after Turning Red.
- Both his name, Elio, and his surname, Solis, mean "sun", so his name in English is, literally, "Sun Sun".
- In some concept art, he does not have his eye patch. This could likely imply that he possibly gotten ptosis at a random time prior to the film's events.
