An elite First Order operative clad in distinct crimson armor and with a TIE Fighter to match, Major Baron Elrik Vonreg reports directly to Captain Phasma. Part of a secret operation, he makes a personal visit to the Colossus with a shipment of fuel, all in an attempt to coerce Captain Doza into approving First Order protection on the platform.
The First Order, wanting the Colossus as a staging area for the upcoming war, hired Kragan Gor's band of pirates to repeatedly attack the floating city so that Captain Doza would relinquish the station to the First Order, under the guise of "extra security". After multiple unsuccessful attempts, it was arranged for the pirates to kidnap Doza's daughter Torra and turn her over to the First Order until Doza relinquished the station.
However, when Vonreg met the pirates to take Torra into custody and pay the pirates for their services, he instead pulled out a blaster and killed multiple pirates, then took Torra. After returning her to her father, Doza became convinced that the First Order was benevolent and agreed to let them station a small garrison on the platform.
Following the discovery that the Colossus was actually a ship, Kaz and Neeku came up with a plan to get rid of the First Order by moving the Colossus off Castillon. During their escape, Vonreg and his squadron attempted to shoot down the compromised platform, leading to a dogfight with Kaz and Yeager. After destroying all of the other TIE fighters, Kaz got into a one-on-one dogfight with Vonreg that ended with Kaz shooting and destroying Vonreg’s fighter, killing him.

- Vonreg’s helmet design is based on the First Order TIE fighter pilot helmets, with a nod to both clone trooper pilot helmets and Imperial Royal Guards.
- The character was developed with the famous World War I German ace Red Baron in mind, from which he inherited the red color and the title of baron.
