Emily Kathleen Mortimer is a British-American actress and voice actress. For Disney, she played Amy in The Kid and voiced Holley Shiftwell in the 2011 Disney/Pixar film Cars 2 and in Disney Infinity and the rest of the video games Holley appeared in, the younger Sophie in the 2004 Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli film Howl's Moving Castle, and played the adult Jane Banks in the 2018 film Mary Poppins Returns.
Mortimer was born in Hammersmith, London and studied at St Paul's Girls' School in west London where she appeared in several pupil productions. She later attended the University of Oxford where she continued to perform in plays. In 1996, she made her film debut with The Ghost and the Darkness. Her other film credits include Elizabeth, Notting Hill, Scream 3, Love's Labour's Lost, The Pink Panther, The Pink Panther 2, Shutter Island, Our Idiot Brother, and Hugo.
Mortimer is probably best known for her role as Mackenzie "Mac" McHale in the HBO sitcom The Newsroom and hosting the reality show Doll & Em. She also acted in, wrote and directed the BBC miniseries The Pursuit of Love.
