The Enchanted Forest (also known as Misthaven) is a Fairy Tale Land location in the popular ABC TV series Once Upon a Time and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. It is separated from Agrabah by a desert, and Arendelle by a sea. The Brothers Grimm featured this place in several of their fairy tales.
History[]
Before First Curse[]
Before the Dark Curse was cast by the Evil Queen, it used to be home to all the fairy tale characters we know, until the curse sent all of them to Storybrooke, except Emma Swan and Pinocchio, since they went through the magical wardrobe that sent them to the real world before the curse was cast.
After the First Curse[]
After a grown up Emma breaks the curse in 2011, she and Mary Margret find themselves back in the forest after her daughter is pulled through Jefferson's hat portal. David tries to follow them but the portal closes before he can enter. Snow and Emma spend days in the Enchanted Forest, where they meet Princess Aurora and Mulan, who both assist the mother-daughter duo in locating another portal to return home.
After days of searching, they reach the the Charming's castle, which Mary Margret has not seen since the curse was cast by the Evil Queen. Emma and Mary Margret have a heart-to-heart about Mary Margret not being able to raise Emma here and missing her daughter's childhood. The two find the magical wardrobe but it is destroyed when Cora Mills - Regina's mother - tries to use it as well to travel to Storybrooke, leaving Emma no choice but to destroy the wardrobe so that it stops Cora from getting to Henry. With help from the citizens of Storybrooke, Emma and Mary Margret are able to leave the forest and return home.
During Second Curse[]
After Regina undoes Pan's Dark Curse to send all the fairy tale characters back to the Enchanted Forest, they all promptly return, but Snow White recasts the Dark Curse to send them back to Storybrooke.
Before the Third Curse[]
After Emma decides to embrace the darkness, she becomes the new Dark One and is sent to the Enchanted Forest, where the Vault of the Dark One is kept. Her family manage to portal Granny's diner to find Emma, learning she has arrived in the forest. While the family travel to the Enchanted Forest, Emma tries to find a way to destroy the darkness forever by going to Cemelot, where she meets Princess Merida.
Over time, King Arthur of Camelot kidnaps the heroes, threatening to kill them if she does not hand over the Dark One's Dagger. Emma is able to help her family, but Killian is given a deadly wound. Desperate to save the man she loves, Emma transforms Hook into another Dark One, in order to save his life, where Emma fully embraces her role as the dark one. Hook later emerges from the vault as a Dark One as well, a role he would fully embrace too.
Now having fully embraced the darkness, Hook rips out Merlin's heart and crushes it to enact the third dark curse. Seeing what Killian has become, Emma is heartbroken and desperate to fix her mistakes. Emma uses her dream catchers to remove everyone's memories from their time in Camelot, including Hook's, in hopes that she is able to remove the darkness from them both without him knowing what she is doing. The new curse sends everyone back to Storybrooke, including Merida and many residents of Camelot, who have been swept up in the curse, as well.

The Enchanted Forest is divided into kingdoms, much as the Land Without Magic is currently divided into countries. Known kingdoms of the Enchanted Forest are:

- Rapunzel's Kingdom (ruled by Rapunzel's parents)

Castles Shown on Screen[]
- Home to Regina Mills; also known as the Evil Queen. Formerly belonged to Queen Eva and King Leopold and is Snow's childhood home.

- Home to Rumplestiltskin and where Belle worked as a servant.
- Aurora's Palace:
- Home to Princess Aurora and her parents. Aurora was cursed to sleep for all eternity here before Prince Philip found and awakened her from her slumber.
- Prince Thomas' Palace:
- Home to Prince Thomas and his family. Ella moves in here following her marriage to Thomas.
