"Enchantment Passing Through" is the fourteenth and final song from the concept album of Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. The song is sung by Dru Hill.
Radames and Aida imagined what life would be like if they could follow their own ambitions. As the two dreamed together, they began to find themselves falling love.
After being sentenced to death, Aida and Radames clung to each other after being entombed in the dark, their air slowly dwindling. To comfort a frightened Aida, Radames vowed to find her again, no matter how far or how long. With a final kiss, the lovers died of suffocation.

A few more days, we'll be home in glory
Already they'll be getting out the flags
With Memphis high in mode adulatory
Still I only see a lot of snags
For just because I triumphed as a slaver
Brought booty back to Egypt by the ton
Of this and every month, now I'm the flavor, ooh, yeah
And scheduled to do things I've never done
And why
Should I tell you this
A stranger I just met
A woman who in hours from now
I'll certainly forget
Anonymous and undemanding
Enchantment passing through
My secrets and my confidence
Are safe enough with you
My days out on the field are all but ended
They'll put me out to grass which means the throne
Bedecked with jewels alongside my intended
I feel as if my heart is set in stone
For just because I triumphed as a slaver
Brought booty back to Egypt by the ton, oh, yeah
Of this and every month, I'm now the flavor
And scheduled to do the things I've never done
Hey, hey
And why
Should I tell you this
A stranger I just met
A woman who in hours from now
I'll certainly forget
Anonymous and undemanding
Enchantment passing through
My secrets and my confidence
Is safe enough in you
Why
Should I tell you this
A stranger I just met
Someone who in hours from now
I'll certainly forget?
So anonymous and undemanding, yes, you are
Enchantment passing through
My secrets and my confidence
Is safe enough with you
Why
Should I tell you this
A stranger I just met
A woman who in hours from now
I'll certainly forget
Anonymous and undemanding
Enchantment passing through
My secrets and my confidence
Are safe enough with you
Are safe enough with you
Radames: To sail away to half discovered places
To see the secrets so few eyes have seen
To see moments of enchantment on our faces
The moments when we smile and those in between
Aida: If I could leave this place then I'd be sailing
To corners of my land where there would be
Sweet southern winds of liberty prevailing
The beauty so majestic and so free
Radames: There'd be no ties of time and space to bind me
Aida: And no horizon I could not pursue
Radames: I'd leave the world's misfortunes far behind me
Aida: I'd put my faith and trusting in something new
Both: But why should I tell you this
Aida: A stranger I just met
Radames: A woman whom I hardly know at all and should forget
Both: A journey we can only dream of
Enchantment passing through
And how is it I say these things
So easily to you
Radames: But why did I tell her this?
A stranger I've just met
A woman who I hardly know at all and will forget
Anonymous and gone tomorrow
Enchantment passing through
And all I've done is tell her things
She already knew
She knew... She knew....
Radames: There'll be no ties of time and space to bind us
Aida: And no horizon we shall not pursue
Both: We'll leave the world's misfortunes far behind us
And I will put my faith and trust in you
