Enhanced Individuals can be split into two categories: Metahumans and Gifted. Metahumans are beings like Thor, Gamora and Groot, who were born with their powers, but don't have the X-Gene (and therefore, they aren't Mutants) and don't have Terragenisis in their DNA (and, therefore, aren't Inhumans). Gifted are beings who received powers due to externals means, whether is by receiving superpowers through science (like Captain America, Spider-Man and Scott Lang), learning magic (like Doctor Strange and Wong), or wearing a suit of powered armor (like Iron Man, War Machine and Vulture).
Enhanced Individuals can choose to use their powers for good, becoming superheroes, or for evil, becoming supervillains.
Unlike Mutants and Inhumans, Enhanced Individuals don't isolate themselves from society, and they are not discriminated for their powers.
During the Civil War, Enhanced Individuals who fought to protect Bucky Barnes became fugitives of justice. This was eventually solved when the Sokovia accords were retired following Thanos' defeat and Iron Man's death.
