"Escape to Amphibia" is the fiftieth episode of the Disney Channel animated series, Amphibia.
Synopsis[]
With one shot at getting the Plantars back to Amphibia, Anne and her parents must go up against Mr. X and the FBI.
Plot[]
With the Plantars antics finally having reached the government, Mr. X is finally given full control over various resources in capturing them. Terri and Dr. Jan have worked together to build a machine that will create a portal that will send Anne and the Plantars back to Amphibia. There are two problems however. The battery being used is not strong enough to make the portal big and Anne is unsure if she can come to grips with telling her parents goodbye when she heads back. Despite this, the Boonchuys seem very supportive of Anne's insistence on returning and opt to go to SpendCo to get the supplies necessary. Mr. X manages to locate them at the store.
With everyone gathering supplies, Anne has a playful battle with her parents and is emotionally moved to tears when with them. She opens up to Sprig and admits that she is unsure if she can leave them again. After getting the items needed (with Hop Pop buying various avocado based products) the group is suddenly attacked by Mr. X and the FBI who capture the Plantars, but leave Anne as he sees her as just an ordinary girl. The Boonchuys give chase before finding the base, but Anne is convinced that they are in way over their heads. She recruits Dr. Jan, Terri, Ally, Jess, Molly Jo, Humphrey Westwood and a couple of her Thai neighbors to help with the rescue mission.
The group manage to sneak into the base, with Dr. Jan and Terri getting distracted by a giant power battery that they could use to generate the portal, but the rest of the group fall into a trap. Mr. X explains his plan to perform experiments on the Plantars before telling Anne that she is just a child and therefore incapable of helping herself. Anne sulks, before her parents inform her that she has grown a lot since her trip to Amphibia, which allows her to finally accept leaving again. Terri and Dr. Jan's actions cause a power outage and Anne uses the opportunity to beat the guards and rescue the Plantars; allowing everyone else to steal an FBI truck and escape. The heroes manage to outrun the FBI, but Mr. X places a tracker on them.
The group uses their extended power batteries to open the portal, but it is still too small. Mr. X and the FBI arrive where the former once again belittles Anne for being a child. However, Anne instead unleashes her blue gem energy and intimidates the FBI. Her energy also allows the portal to get bigger and, using the last of Hop Pop's avocados, alerts a giant praying mantis to come and distract the FBI while Anne and the Plantars finally leave. Anne gives one final look to her supportive parents before leaving. After calming the mantis, disabling the portal machine in the process, the Boonchuys confront Mr. X to explain what is happening. Anne and the Plantars are shocked to see that Amphibia is in shambles as King Andrias' castle floats in the distance.
