Fanny Cottontail

Francine "Fanny" Cottontail is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit's original love interest, appearing in his earliest cartoon poor papa up to All Wet.

personality[]

In her earliest appearances, she was a very sweet and gentle figure despite sharing temper symiliar to oswald's as seen in the mechanical cow where she starts punching a villian after he grabs her and stays upset with oswald for majority of oh teacher after a misunderstanding, Toward the end of her run in the Oswald cartoons, she became progressively more sultry, mischievous and flirtatious, culminating in her last appearance in All Wet

design[]

at first her design is very closely resembling of Oswald biggest diffrence between the two being her flower like skirt and eyelashes, in oh teacher she shortly has a hat on her head with a flower on it that she loses it later in the short and in great guns she's shortly seen in a white skirt and a nurse cap

in All Wet, she gains more curves no longer having the same body type as oswald, her flower like skirt is replaced by a tight longer dress with a v neckline and eyes change style to more of ub iwerks liking as now there both fully highlighted and bigger with additional 2 eyelashes on the bottom, while her nose stays the same her lips become bigger and now have lipstick on them, for unknown reasons or possibly animation errors she lacks a tail in any of her apperances

Naming[]

Like Ortensia, her name was never clarified to the public in the shorts, only seen on official copyright documents and the book: Walt in Wonderland: The Silent Films of Walt Disney. Curiously, she was identified as Ortensia herself back when Ortensia was nameless (despite being a different species) in Universal Pictures' official copyright synopsis.^[2]

Disney Speedstorm[]

In Disney Speedstorm, Fanny makes her first modern appearance since Oswald's return to Disney, using her full name of "Francine 'Fanny' Cottontail" and sporting a slight redesign similar to concept art from Epic Mickey. Fanny is an Epic Crew Member, and is exclusively usable by Oswald. When equipped, Fanny boosts all of Oswald's stats, increases the power of his Unique skill, and gives him a Shield skill to use at the start of the race. Fanny (as well as any other Crew Member in the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Collection) is currently only available through limited-time special events for racers Oswald and Ortensia.

Fanny was originally supposed to be in Epic Mickey, but Ortensia ended up being used in her place.

Fanny Rabbit under Walter Lantz[]

Fanny Rabbit (later renamed as Bunny Lou) appeared in a 1934 Lantz cartoon, "The Candy House", and was reworked to be Oswald's younger sister instead of his love interest.

Her last name, "Cottontail", might be an allusion to the Easter Bunny, "Peter Cottontail", potentially indicating that she is related to him in some way.
With the modern uses of Oswald focusing solely on his relationship with Ortensia, it is unknown what his current relationship with Fanny is.
Fanny was planned to return in the 2013's cancelled show, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit The Series.
