Presto Pluto is a Pluto short originally featured in the 25th episode of Mickey Mouse Works. It was later featured in the House of Mouse episode "House of Magic".
Plot[]
Pluto is once again in competition with Butch for Dinah's affections when he accidentally swallows a magic wand, which gives Pluto the ability to magically transform anything he sees right in front of him with just a single hiccup!
Synopsis[]
Pluto swoons over a picture of Dinah in his doghouse until he notices her passing by. Pluto sees this as an opportunity and gives her some flowers; however, their moment is cut short when Butch kicks Pluto away and asks Dinah out on a date, even giving her the flowers that Pluto had placed on Butch's nose earlier.
Pluto eventually ends up in a magic shop, where he is ejected by the shopkeeper. Pluto ends up in a magical chest, and when it is opened in a nearby alley, he shakes off the top hat off his head and spits out a magic wand that had been in his mouth. The wand ricochets off the surrounding buildings before being swallowed by Pluto. He hiccups, and the magical chest transforms into a pot of sunflowers. He hiccups a few more times, transforming several parking meters into sunflowers, a police officer's hat into a gardener's hat, and a newspaper dispenser into yet another pot of sunflowers, but this time with hearts. Pluto realized that he could use this to his advantage and win Dinah's heart.
Butch and Dinah are walking down the street when they come to a halt in front of a sidewalk pit. Pluto appears and, with his magical hiccups, removes the warning sign and conjures up a bridge over the pit, complete with a rail, candles, and flower decorations. Butch follows him and Dinah across the bridge, angry and envious. Pluto and Dinah make it to the other side, where Pluto uses his hiccups once more to make the bridge vanish. Butch falls into the pit because he was crossing the bridge when it disappeared.
Pluto and Dinah board the bus, but the bus driver immediately kicks them off because the bus has a 'No Dogs Allowed' sign. Dinah is discouraged, but Pluto hiccups once more, changing the sign to 'Dogs Only!' as passengers rush out of the bus. Butch, who is still angry at Pluto for stealing Dinah from him, appears in front of the two dogs as they board the bus. Pluto hiccups, and the bus transforms into a dog-catching van, and Butch was in the right place to be caught by the dog catcher. Pluto and Dinah board a different bus.
At the park, Pluto conjures up a picnic set for himself and Dinah, even poofing up raw steaks for them to eat. Things go crazy when Pluto accidentally turns Dinah into a bone and Butch snatches her, leading to a chase through a park in which Pluto and Butch transform into various animals (including a block of cheese in Butch's case) before reverting back. Pluto ends the chase by conjuring an anvil, a piano, a safe, an Ajax shipping truck, an airplane, a cruise ship, the Eiffel Tower, and the Empire State Building, which fall on top of Butch and on each other.
Later that day, Butch reads a book about curing hiccups while Pluto keeps an eye on dog-turned-bone Dinah. Butch unexpectedly scoops him up in a paper bag, chains him up in a carrier, and takes the bone back. But, using his hiccups, Pluto summons a refrigerator, another safe, the earlier bus, and a concrete mixer to slow Butch down. He retrieves Dinah only for Butch to snatch her a third time so he can bury 'it,' not realizing 'it' was Dinah. Fortunately, Pluto's latest hiccup restores Dinah to normalcy. She chastises Butch for nearly burying her alive. Butch admits that he doesn't know, while Pluto mocks his ignorance.
Butch pursues Pluto for a fight after realizing that Pluto forced him to do what he did, resulting in Pluto coughing up the magic wand and Butch swallowing it. When Butch hiccups, he transforms into a bone. The episode concludes with Dinah and Pluto kissing and dog-turned-bone Butch hiccupping again, causing the sun to crash on the horizon.
