Katherine Marie Heigl is an American actress, producer, and former fashion model. She is best known for her television roles as Isabel Evans in The WB/UPN sci-fi drama series Roswell (1999–2002), Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens in the ABC medical drama series Grey's Anatomy (2005–2010), and Tully Hart in the Netflix drama series Firefly Lane (2021–2023). She also voiced Andie in The Nut Job and its 2017 sequel.
For Disney, she portrayed Nicole in the 1994 Touchstone Pictures film My Father the Hero and Alexia "Alex" or "Ally" Wheaton, the older sister of Hayley (as well as Hayley while she is in Alexia's body) in the 1996 Disney Channel Original Movie Wish Upon a Star. She also played Romy White in the Freeform telefilm Romy and Michele: In the Beginning.
Heigl was born in Washington, D.C., in Columbia Hospital for Women. She is the youngest of four children of Nancy (née Engelhardt), a personal manager, and Paul Heigl, a financial executive and accountant. Her father is of Irish and German ancestry (including Swiss-German); her mother is of German descent. Heigl lived in Northern Virginia and then Denver. When Heigl was five, her family moved to the town of New Canaan, Connecticut, where she lived the rest of her childhood.
