Lucy Liu (Chinese: 劉玉玲) is a Taiwanese-American actress, artist, narrator, screenwriter, and director. She is best known for her roles as Ling Woo in the Fox legal comedy-drama series Ally McBeal (19972002), Joan Watson in the CBS crime drama series Elementary (20122019), and Alex Munday in the 2000 action comedy film Charlie's Angels and its 2003 sequel. She is also known for voicing Madam Wu in the Fox animated sitcom The Simpsons, Maggie Lee in the PBS Kids show Maya & Miguel, and Master Viper in DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda franchise. Additionally, she played Dr. Joan Watson in the CBS crime drama series Elementary (20122019).

For Disney, she voiced Silvermist in the Tinker Bell film series and Princess Mei in the 2004 direct-to-video sequel film Mulan II. She also played Lia in the 1999 Touchstone Pictures film Play It to the Bone, Princess Pei-Pei in Shanghai Noon, Rita Foster in the 2002 Miramax film Cypher, Kitty Baxter in Chicago, O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill: Volume 1 and its 2004 sequel, Grace Chin in Ugly Betty, Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia, and Nola Lyons in Dirty Sexy Money. Additionally, she voiced the Bandit Leader in Star Wars: Visions and Callisto Mal in Strange World. She also directed the Luke Cage episode "Soul Brother #1", as well the Disney+ American Born Chinese episode "Hot Stuff".
