The Sandman of the Sam RaimiSpider-Man trilogy appears in this film, reprised by Thomas Haden Church. Teleported to another reality by Doctor Strange's botched spell, Sandman accidentally encounters the local Spider-Man and protects him from an attack by Electro. Mistaking this Peter Parker for his own Spider-Man since he hadn't seen him in years, Flint helps him incapacitate Electro, but, believing that this other Peter had killed Electro by teleporting him with a magic web, he almost attacks him, only to be placed in a magic cell in turn.
Later, Sandman is surprised to see the two villains Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin who were supposed to be long dead. Things become clearer, however, when Peter and his friends explain that Strange's botched spell brought several of Spider-Man's alternate foes to their dimension, with the majority having died fighting him. Afterwards, a guilt-ridden Peter decides to help the villains avoid their fate before they return home.
Brought to Happy Hogan's apartment, Sandman remains very relaxed until the evening when he and Electro converse about how they got their power and what they care about, Electro not wanting to be nobody again and Flint only wanting to see his daughter again. Unfortunately, a Green Goblin fully in possession of Norman Osborn's spirit tells Sandman, Electro, and Lizard that they don't need to be cured because their powers are gifts. Flint is at first reluctant due to his desire to see his daughter again but eventually snaps and flees the building.
On the Statue of Liberty in full renovation, Spider-Man allows the villains to trace him back through a broadcast of the Daily Bugle saying that he has in his hands the magic box that can bring them all home. Upon arriving, Sandman also finds himself confronted by the Spider-Man of his own reality and another alternate Spider-Man. During the confrontation, Sandman took on a gigantic form to easily overwhelm the three spiders despite brief interference from Electro. The two old acquaintances come face to face in the head of the statue, Spider-Man trying to convince Sandman that he can help him but it falls on deaf ears and Flint tries to gobble up his old enemy. in his body of sand. His attempt is ultimately successful when Spider-Man receives the Sandman's Cure in time and activates it, producing a burst of radiation that reverses Sandman's mutation, returning him to his human form. Again Flint Marko and in shock from the event, he is left safely inside the head while the other villains are healed and the ultimate fight against Green Goblin begins. Once Green Goblin is defeated and cured, Strange casts his spell and sends everyone back to their respective dimensions, with Flint being sent back into his own dimension along with Norman, Otto, and their Peter.
Flint Marko was a criminal, when one day he escaped from prison, but unfortunately was caught up in an atomic explosion. The explosion had mutated Flint into sand particles and was enable to control them. Later, Nick Fury captured him and left him on an isolated island at the Bermuda Triangle. He became lonely at the island and created a playmate for himself, which he called "Sandy".

Flint was visited one day by Spider-Man and the other trainees, who were on vacation. He decided to play with them, but the trainees escaped with the plane from his dangerous actions. Unnoticed by Spider-Man and the others, Sandman hid inside Spider-Man's unitard. He was noticed by them and they landed the plane on the river that was encased in ice. Sandman tried to get on land to destroy Manhattan, but was stopped by Nova, who heated his silica in the sand to glass.
S.H.I.E.L.D. put him in a special hourglass prison that stopped his reformation with vibrations. Many months later, a brief accident caused by the Awesome Android allows Sandman to escape but instead of fleeing, he saves the scientists from the flames. Afterwards, Flint gains a chance to change while being supervised by Spider-Man. So equipped with a special outfit that limits his powers and Spider-Man having a watch that can send electric shocks to subdue him, Sandman confronts Swarm but he gets a little too carried away until Spider-Man manages to calm him down. . The duo go the next day to town and confront Batroc the Leaper whose taunts once again cause Flint to lose his temper. Things escalate when J. Jonah Jameson belittles and calls Sandman a monstrosity, the sand being is so overwhelmed with his emotions that he eventually decides to stop changing because it's too hard and destroys Sandman's watch. Spider-Man to have no more limitation. Using Awesome Android, Spider-Man once again managed to subdue Sandman.
When the New Sinister Six later capture him and take him to a secret base in the Bermuda Triangle to create clones of him, Spider-Man and Iron Spider are able to free him. Subsequently, Sandman repents of his past mistakes but does not believe he is ready to join S.H.I.E.L.D Academy yet and chooses to remain hidden in the beach surrounding the building until the right moment arrives.
Sandman appears in the new series Spider-Man with his daughter, Keemia, who also has sand powers.
Trivia
In Marvel Comics, William Baker was part of a gang and was locked up in Ryker's Island. After escaping, he was exposed to nuclear radiation that gave him the ability to control and morph into Sand. He battles against Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four and sometimes is an anti-hero, but later he joins the Sinister Six.
Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man are Sandman's fourth and fifth animated appearance. Previous versions include Spider-Man (1967), Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends, and The Spectacular Spider-Man.
The shot of Sandman turning back into his human form in No Way Home is reused from Spider-Man 3. At the same time, he never reverts to his human form until he is healed, always taking a humanoid form made of sand.
Like Lizard's actor Rhys Ifans, Thomas Haden Church did not physically appear on set of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Instead Church recorded his lines and his transformation scene was re-used from Spider-Man 3.[1]
