Robin David Segal, better known by his stage name, Robby Benson, is an American actor, singer, musician, director, producer, writer, composer, and educator. For Disney, he is best known for providing the voice of Prince Adam/The Beast in the 1991 animated feature film Beauty and the Beast. He reprised the role in the two direct-to-video midquels The Enchanted Christmas and Belle's Magical World, the House of Mouse series (as well as the direct-to-video special Mickey's Magical Christmas), the tribute short Once Upon a Studio, and various Disney video games (including the Kingdom Hearts series). He also appeared in an episode of Road to Avonlea.

Benson was born in Dallas, Texas but relocate to New York City where he spent much of his childhood. He attended the Lincoln Square Academy. Making his film debut in 1967's Wait Until Dark, Benson alternated between film, television, and stage roles throughout his career.

His film credits include Jory, Jeremy, The Death of Richie, The Chosen, One on One, Ice Castles, Die Laughing, Tribute, Two of a Kind, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus (2000), Dragonheart: A New Beginning, and Modern Love which he also wrote, produced and directed. For television, Benson appeared in shows, such as Exosquad, Search for Tomorrow, One Day at a Time, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Legend of Prince Valiant, Batman: The Animated Series, The Magic School Bus, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Outside of acting, Benson worked as a professor various universities, such as the Tisch School of the Arts. He also directed over a dozen episodes of the ABC Studios sitcoms: Ellen and 8 Simple Rules as well as Evening Shade, Thunder Alley, Dream On, Friends, The Naked Truth, Jesse, and The Huntress.
