"To the Goldilocks Zone" is the first segment of the ninth episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on March 20, 2015 alongside "Hiccup in the Plan".

Plot[]

While playing hide and seek, Miles gets a call from his friend on Earth, Haruna, who tells him his family are moving into outer space to start a colony on a planet called Malvolio. Haruna is excited but also nervous about it because he has never been into outer space before, but Miles assures him he will feel at home in no time. After leaving Haruna to get ready for take off, Miles and M.E.R.C. go to the bridge to tell the whole family, who are tracking a Protoplanet that is behaving oddly. They are making sure it doesn't collide into any planets with life on them. Just then, after Stella informs Miles that the Kitumba family have just departed from Earth and are now on their way to Malvolio, the Callistos discover the Protoplanet is on a collision course for that planet and destroys it. The Callistos inform the Kitumbas about what has happened. They are quite disappointed as well as relieved that it happened before they got there, but now they have a new problem: where to live now and they can't go back to Earth. Suddenly, space debris from Malvolio's destructions collides with the Kitumbas. They manage to dodge many of the incoming asteroids but their ship gets damaged once clear of the debris, leaving them stranded in space. The Kitumbas are alright but they need a tow and a new planet to live on, one that is within the Goldilocks Zone. Loretta explains to Miles that a planet in the Goldilocks Zone is just in the right distance from a Star to have water on its surface so humans can live there. In simple terms, they need to find a planet that is just like Earth and suitable for human life.

Leo and Loretta take the Star Jetter to give the Kitumbas a tow, Phoebe remains a board the Stellosphere in case anyone needs back up, and Miles and M.E.R.C. take the Photon Flyer to find a new livable planet. With Haruna's help, Miles and M.E.R.C. start their search in a Star system called Gliese 667 where they find a planet known as Neurontin. At first, Miles thinks it looks like a suitable planet, but after M.E.R.C. checks the temperature, they find the planet extremely too hot for human life to live on and flowing lava lakes. They depart from Gliese 667 and head for a blue planet known as Wallingford. Upon arriving, Miles and M.E.R.C. find the entire planet is icy and so cold that the Photon Flyer's controls end up frozen, causing them to fly out of control. However M.E.R.C. manages to get them nose up and back to a higher altitude. After Miles regains control of the ship, Miles decides that Wallingford is not a suitable planet for humans to live on, especially after a near miss with ice volcanoes. Meanwhile, Leo and Loretta arrive at the Kitumba's ship and give them a tow.

Miles and M.E.R.C. continue on with their search and come across another planet called Lankersall. Upon arriving, they find the entire planet teaming with plant-life and according to M.E.R.C.'s temperature check, it is just the right planet to support human life. Miles and M.E.R.C. and have found the Goldilocks Zone and Haruna's new home. Soon both the Callistos and the Kitumbas arrive on Lankersall and the Kitumbas are happy with their new home, the perfect place to start a human colony and to go skateboard, which is exactly what Miles and Haruna go off to do.
