Firetown is one of the towns located within Element City. It is served by the Wetro station Firetown. Firetown's first residents were the Lumen family, consisting of Bernie, Cinder, and Ember Lumen. It is a place where all of the Fire residents live. Clod is the only non-fire resident to live in Firetown.
All of the buildings have a chimney that is sometimes emitting smoke. Most buildings are made of metal, wood, and brick, and are multiple stories tall. Within Firetown there are a number of shops, such as The Fireplace, which is a cafe and convenience store, the Smoke Shop, which is laundromat, and a Firework shop, which sells fireworks.
Towards the beginning of the film, only Fire residents would be in Firetown, with the exception of Clod and later Wade. However to the end, Firetown is more open to the rest of Element City and its residents, as Gale Cumulus, Fern Grouchwood, and multiple other elements are seen in Firetown and inside The Fireplace.
According to color and shading art director Jennifer Chang: "We couldn't go too realistic. We didn't want to char the whole thing. But we liked textures that might come from torching it like a crème brûlée. We played with pattern and specularity of objects. All the set design was pushing the idea of the shape of the flame—the triangle, diamond or a candlelight feeling to it. The shading considered all of the wear and tear—how flame would interact with this furniture in this world, while expressing it in the theatrical way."[1]
