The Flame Retardant is an object that is featured in the Ghost of Christmas Past segment in the movie A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carrey.

A Christmas Carol

When Ebenezer Scrooge has had enough of seeing his past shown to him, he extinguishes the Ghost of Christmas Past with the Flame Retardant the ghost carried most of the time.

Seconds after Scrooge extinguished the spirit, the retardant shoots up in to the sky like a firework, with Scrooge holding on in a similar manner to Dr. Strangelove.

During Scrooge's flight, the retardant erodes into dust leaving Scrooge flying near the moon, and then falling around 50,000 feet towards the ground.
