"Flight of the Butterflies" is the second segment of the fifty-fifth episode of Spidey and his Amazing Friends. It premiered on January 8, 2024 alongside "The Friendly Neighborhood" and is the second segment of the first episode of the third season.[1]
Synopsis[]
Team Spidey must figure out where Sandman is hiding a migration of butterflies.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Miles bringing his mom and friends to a large butterfly exhibit, where the butterflies are drinking nectar to gain energy for their long migration south. As Team Spidey explores the park, however, in a nearby playground, Sandman is showing off his new sand-nado but is disappointed to find it empty. A nearby pedestrian tells Sandman how everyone is at the butterfly exhibit and suggests taking a day off, which Sandman dismisses. Sandman heads over to the butterfly exhibit and begins showing off his sand-nado, which starts sucking in objects and spewing out sand. Team Spidey secretly morphs into their spider forms.
Team Spidey attempts to use their webs on the sand-nado but it fails. When Sandman discovers that the people left the exhibit, he, in a fit of jealously, sucks up all the butterflies and escapes with them. Team Spidey follows Sandman into the city, where is still attempting to show off his sand-nado. Sandman tells the heroes that he hid the butterflies in a secret location, but they trick him into revealing that they are on Goblin Island. Team Spidey calls Webster to transport them to Goblin Island.
Team Spidey finds the butterflies trapped in a cave, but Sandman creates a humongous sand-nado to throw them off their game. They come up with a plan: Spidey and Ghost web themselves to a nearby pirate ship and distract Sandman while Spin uses their bases' engines to blow away the sand-nado. As Sandman bitterly escapes, Team Spidey frees the butterflies and returns them back to the park. The episode ends with Miles, his mom, Gwen, and Peter saying goodbye to the butterflies as they begin their migration.
