Foaly is a character from the 2020 Disney+ original film Artemis Fowl.
Background[]
Foaly is a centaur who shows a like for science and technology. Despite not being enemies, there was no love lost between him and Commander Root who was never affiliated with technology. He also shows a dislike to those who attempt to ride on him like a horse, which Mulch Diggums learned the hard way.
Role in the film[]
Foaly is first seen approaching Commander Root alerting her that he found something unaccounted on the surface, which he thinks that it could be a deep-tunnel breakout probably through a fault or dormant volcano. Root tells him to send someone to identify the source, which Foaly reports that all active-duty officers are downtown searching for the Aculos, followed by Root sending Holly on a dispatch. As Holly is sent on a dispatch, Foaly shows her the quickest way he can take her to the surface, telling her that she must use a launch pod as one of the quickest ways to send her to the surface, telling her to wait for his signal just as Foaly sends Holly for launch via pod.
Later when Holly encounters a troll attacking a wedding party at Italy, Foaly sends the Time Freeze over the troll, followed by a group of L.E.P.RECON officers sent to fix the damage caused by the troll and later taking the troll out of the festival. Suddenly during Holly's assignment, Foaly loses contact of Holly who was hit by a dart fired by Domovoi Butler. With Holly captured in Fowl Manor, Root alerts Foaly, telling him to give her the Time Freeze immediately which Foaly reports to her that the receiver dishes are in position and upon seeing footage of the Time Freeze in the real world, he reports to Root that the Time Freeze is successful. However, when Dom fires an arrow to destabilize the Time Freeze, Foaly reacts in shock and reports to Root to patch in the effect, telling her to patch it quickly.
Foaly then later reports to Root that the Time Freeze integrity has been lowered down to 60% while Root tells him to hold it together. Later after Mulch Diggums recaps to Root about how long he was in jail before rescuing Holly, Root alerts Foaly to send Mulch on his assignment to rescue Holly. Soon as Mulch finds the Aculos, Foaly suddenly reacts to the Aculos being found, alongside Root and Mulch himself. Seeing the Time Freeze being seriously unstable, Foaly alerts Root that it may not hold longer. As the Time Freeze is collapsing, Foaly notices that he lost certain fairies throughout the mission, leading the L.E.P.RECON officers to evacuate from the collapsing Time Freeze, telling everyone to take cover as the Time Freeze suddenly stops. Later at the end of the film, Foaly and the other L.E.P.RECON officers praise Holly for being a heroine having accomplished her mission, thanks to the Aculos recovered.
