Don't take it all.
Wiccan lends some power to Agatha Harkness

"Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End" is the eighth episode of the miniseries Agatha All Along. It premiered on October 30, 2024.

Synopsis[]

The end of the road.

Plot[]

Picking up from the end of Episode 5, Alice wakes up and is greeted by Rio, who asks her if she is ready to go. Alice confusingly asks why and is shown her dead body after Agatha absorbed all her power. Distraught, Alice exclaims that she had so much more to do, while Death points out she is a protection witch and did what she was meant to do: die protecting someone. Alice cries over her own body as Rio escorts Alice's soul to the afterlife. In present day, Agatha agrees to give Billy to Rio, who views him as an abomination for gaining a second life. Billy and Jen rejoin Agatha at the end of the Road, only to find that it goes in a circle. Billy puts his shoes back on, and the three are transported to a version of Agatha's basement with grow lights that slowly go out. Jen learns that Agatha was the witch who bound her and performs the unbinding spell. She regains her abilities and disappears, having gotten what she needed from the Road. Agatha helps Billy locate Tommy's soul, and Billy puts it in the body of a drowning boy. Billy disappears and Agatha grows a flower through a crack in the floor using a seed from her locket, completing the trial. She escapes and finds herself in her backyard, where Rio awaits her. Billy returns to aid her. Agatha attempts to give Billy up, but he convinces her to give herself up instead. Agatha kisses Rio and dies. Rio allows Billy to leave, and he returns home. Upon entering his room, he realizes that many of the objects in his bedroom match aspects of the Road and hears Agatha laughing.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first part of the two-part finale.
  • Agatha Harkness dies. This is from the kiss of Death after kissing Rio.
    • It is the second episode in the series to feature a same-sex kiss between two characters, after Billy and Eddie in "Familiar by Thy Side".
      • Rio told Agatha in the first episode to take her power, but Agatha replied that it would kill her. This is exactly what happens in this episode as Agatha takes some of Rio's power as she kisses her, which then kills her.
    • Agatha's death makes her the first protagonist to die in a Disney+ show.
  • The battle between Agatha and Rio mirrors the final battle between Agatha and Wanda Maximoff in the last episode of WandaVision.
  • Billy debuts his Wiccan outfit just like how Wanda debuted the Scarlet Witch outfit at the end of WandaVision. The costume is accurate to his comic book counterpart.
    • Billy Maximoff originally wore the costume as part of celebrating Halloween in the sixth episode of WandaVision. However, this episode features the official debut of the Wiccan costume, mirroring the debut in the comic books.
  • Jeff and Rebecca Kaplan return since the flashbacks in fifth episode.
  • It is revealed that the whole Witches Road took 24 hours to complete in real time.
  • This episode shows flashbacks from previous episodes. Deceased characters return in the form of the flashbacks.
  • The way Wiccan leaves Westview mirrors Wanda doing the same in the last episode of WandaVision. Billy even puts up his hood and is surrounded by the Westview residents like Wanda was.
  • Billy's mind reading powers allow him to locate Tommy's soul, which Billy transfers into the body of a teenager who has drowned, much like how Billy's soul located William Kaplan's body as he died in a car crash.
  • The opening scene shows the aftermath of "Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power", seconds after Alice's death and Rio escorting her soul to the afterlife.
  • The reveal that Billy made the road was hinted at in "Death's Hand in Mine" when Lilia told him that he was the magician and able to make things a reality, something Wanda could do.
  • The way Alice wakes up fine and then turns around to see her corpse on the ground mirrors the scene from the 1990 film Ghost, when Patrick Swayze's character, Sam Wheat, thinks he is alive and goes to his girlfriend Molly, only to find his corpse in her arms.
  • Rio is seen wearing a green crown in the episode, but it was never shown in the trailer footage. This was likely to avoid spoilers on who she really is.
  • Rio breaks the fourth wall by using her dagger to break open reality on the witches road. This makes her one of 3 characters to break the fourth wall, after She-Hulk and Deadpool.
    • It is also like when Clea tore a rift in reality during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
      • However, unlike the scene from that film, the sets here are practical.
    • Rio doing so can also be seen as foreshadowing as to how the Witches' Road seen during the series is actually a manifestation created by Billy's hex magic.
  • The way Billy puts his shoes back on to enter the next trial is similar to Dorothy in the film Wizard of Oz, when she used her ruby slippers to start her journey on the yellow brick road.
  • The colour of Jennifer's powers being pink is the same colour of the potion mix in episode 3, when she successfully created an antidote for the poison.
  • When Billy is trying to regain his memories, both Vision and Wanda's voices are heard from the WandaVision finale. Vision's line is "Your mother and I are very proud of you both", while Wanda's is "Boys? Thanks for choosing me to be your mom".
  • Death's cackle while she is on the roof is very similar to the Wicked Witch of the West, who stands on the roof as she hurls fireballs at the scarecrow.
  • After seeing the moon, Agatha remembers how to fight a demonic force from Alice's trial in episode 4, and uses that technique in hopes to get rid of Death. Agatha also remembers to "hit the deck", something Lilia told her in the previous episode.
  • The way Wiccan is blasted backwards and watches Agatha and Rio fight is similar to the way Harry Potter was blasted back and watched Dumbledore and Voldermort battle in Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix.
