Frances Louise McDormand is an American film and stage actress. She is well-known for her role in acclaimed films, such as Mrs. Pell in 1988's Mississippi Reading, Marge Gunderson in 1996's Fargo, and Elaine Miller in 2000's Almost Famous. She also portrayed Ms. Clavel in the 1998 adaptation of Madeline and voiced Chantal DuBois in DreamWorks' Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.
For Disney, she voiced Momma Ida in the 2015 Disney/Pixar film The Good Dinosaur. She also played Nora Scanlan in the 1992 Hollywood Pictures film Passed Away, Fern in Nomadland, and Lucinda Krementz in The French Dispatch.
