"Francis Wants to Be Alone" is the first segment of the tenth episode of the Disney Channel animated series StuGo.

Synopsis[]

Fragile Friendships! A spiraling Merian tries to figure out exactly why Francis left her party.

Plot[]

Merian has thrown together a party for her and her friends, during which Pliny becomes distracted by Larry's incredible ability to balance a hula hoop, later several hula hoops, in odd directions, and Chip and Sara hang out. When Merian goes to check on Francis to see how she is doing, Francis tells her that she needs to be alone right now, causing Merian to despair. Merian believes that Francis is not enjoying the party, ergo, she does not like her. She compares it to when she was once friends with a girl named Samantha who, out of nowhere, suddenly became distant from her and refused to speak with her. Not wanting a repeat, Merian tries to figure Francis out.

Merian has the other kids gathered together to figure out what is going on with Francis. Despite Sara's suggestion of simply just asking her, Merian insists that they draw up a chart to determine her behavior. Each of the kids try to figure out what is up with her (Pliny stopped paying attention to her, Chip believing she needed to use the bathroom, and Larry completely fabricating his), but come up with nothing. Sara reveals that there is a hidden camera room to check on their activities, and use it to look at Francis's emotion. Understandably, they are unable to figure out what Francis is thinking due to her constant state of indifference.

Believing that she will never be able to make it up with Francis, Merian decides to lock herself away from the world, only to come to the realization that she does not want to repeat the Samantha situation. She runs out into the shoreline to find Francis and walks out to speak to her, despite her telling her to stay back. Merian asks if she hates her, but Francis tells her that this is not the case and that she simply likes to be alone sometimes. Merian is happy to hear this, but learns that they are both stuck to clams, which Francis says let go at sunrise. They enjoy the moonlight as Chip, who earlier got caught up with seals, rides by.

Cast[]

Trivia[]

  • Merian is revealed to have had a friend named Samantha back at her school who became distant from her.
  • Sunil Hall is credited as Sunil the Sailor despite not appearing in this or "The Sash".
  • The scene where Merian spies on Francis from a distance with binoculars, and Francis notices that Merian is spying on her, which frightens Merian is similar to how Misato Katsuragi spies on Kaworu Nagisa from a distance, and Kaworu notices that he is being spied on, which scares Misato in episode 24 of the 1995-1996 anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.
