Plot[]
Miles tries to fix his Photon Flyer's motor with the Quantumatic, but the engine still doesn't work. Miles believes that he doesn't have what it takes. M.E.R.C. cheers him up by going through the motor. Miles says that if he can't fix the old motor, it's easy to print a new one with the Solidizer. Miles prints a new motor just as Stella informs him about an incoming call from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Miles tells M.E.R.C. that they'll finish later.
Once the Callistos are at the bridge, Admirals Watson and Crick say that they wanted to made sure the Callistos heard the news from the Admirals first. The news is that a space probe in deep space has spotted the Explorer, Leo and Phoebe's parents' ship. Vincent was the captain, and Gong Gong and Po Po were the officers. Leo also says that Vincent, Gong Gong, and Po Po took the Explorer farther into space than anyone had ever gone before. The ship was lost because it was hit by an asteroid, and the crew had to abandoned ship. The Explorer was thought be lost forever, but since it's been found, the Admirals thought the Callistos might want to tow it back to Earth for the TTA museum. Leo and Phoebe say that that would be a privilege and an honor. The transmission then ends. Leo says that Vincent loved the Explorer, and Phoebe says that the same could be said for Gong Gong and Po Po, who were heartbroken when they had to leave it behind. Miles has an idea of asking the grandparents to come with the Callistos in case they want to see where the Explorer ended up. Leo decides for the Callistos to meet them at the Tethoscape, so they can surprise them.
The grandparents then arrive, and are greeted by the Callistos. Leo tells the grandparents that the surprise will be revealed once the Callistos are at the bridge. Once there, Miles announces that the TTA found the Explorer, and the grandparents will help the Callistos tow it back to Earth. The grandparents are happy to hear the news, as they never thought they would see it again, and thank the Callistos. Loretta says that the Callistos couldn't imagine picking the ship up without the grandparents. The best part is, it will take until morning to get to the Explorer, so the grandparents can sleep over. Since there is a long way to the Explorer, Phoebe decides to activate the Stellosphere's Galactech mode. The ship then sets location for the Explorer.
At night, Miles is so excited to sleep, that he decides to get some milk. Once there, he meets Vincent enjoying the outside view. Vincent can't sleep as well, as he can't remember the last time he felt this invigorated, also meaning excited. Vincent says that the days of exploring space aboard the Explorer were some of the best of his life until Miles and Loretta came along. Vincent says that the Explorer is nothing like the Stellosphere, but it was home. Vincent and Miles decide to get some sleep, as tomorrow will be a busy, which Vincent means blastastic, day.
The Callistos and their grandparents then land at the Explorer's planet on the Star Jetter, and are happy to see the ship again. Gong Gong and Po Po say that the ship held up well. Leo decides to pull it out of the ice with the heat rays. He then uses the Star Jetter's winch tether to pull it out of the ice while the ship uses its mechanical legs.
Once the Callistos and the grandparents are in the Explorer, they are surprise to see how cool it is. This is just as Leo always imagined. Phoebe says that the ship is literally frozen in time. Miles can't believe anything this old could do what the Explorer did. Vincent says old, like Miles' grandparents, but he's pulling Miles' leg, meaning he's kidding. The ice then begins to crack underneath the Star Jetter.
Vincent sits in his chair, which he misses. As the ship's engineer, Po Po sits left of Gong Gong, who was the pilot and navigator. The Callistos and their grandparents then hear rumbling. Once outside, they see the Star Jetter sink through the ice into the water. Leo thinks about diving down in Aqua Mode to retrieve the ship, but Miles has a better idea: to get the Explorer working again. Since they have no Solidizer, the grandparents say that they've done plenty of repairs on the Explorer, and they can do the same now. Loretta tells Miles that that was a galactic idea.
As the ice continues to crack, the Callistos begin repairs on the Explorer. Eventually, the ship is back to normal. A panel Miles re-attaches is not too sleek, but it will hold just find. With the ice cracking under the ship, Miles, Vincent, Leo, and head back inside. Although the Explorer submerges, the ship has been underwater hundreds of times. The grandparents then start the ship, which takes off out of the water. The ship then uses its tethers to pull the Star Jetter out of the water.
Once everyone is at the Stellosphere, which is connected to the Explorer with a space tunnel, Vincent says that the Explorer saved the grandparents' necks more times than he can count. Gong Gong says that being aboard again reminded him of a very special time in their lives. The Explorer will have a nice home in the TTA museum, and Leo decides to tow it back to Earth. However, Miles says that the grandparents' last mission on the Explorer doesn't have to be the last, as it runs great. The grandparents can pilot it back to earth, and have a few detours along the way.
Back on the Explorer, the grandparents engage all systems, and leave for the detours before heading back to Earth. Miles says that they are feeling invigorated.
