"Galactech: The Vanishing Callistos" is the second segment of the fifty-second episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on June 10, 2017 alongside "Galactech: The Space Trader Strikes Back", and is the second segment of the twenty-second episode in the second season.

Synopsis

When the Callistos start disappearing one by one, Miles and Blodger must find them.

Plot

Miles is teaching Blodger how to ride a Blastboard. Blodger is riding Loretta's, and has difficulty controlling it. He gets motivated by Miles but falls off. The Blastboard then bounces all over the hallway, and Miles tells Blodger that Blastboards can get wild without a rider. Blodger assumes the same could be said with a rider. Stella then informs them about a call from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Miles, Blodger, and M.E.R.C. then head to the bridge.

Leo is whistling while heading to the engine room when Phoebe calls. Leo tells Phoebe that she needs to take the call without him, as he plans to fix something on the Stellosphere. Phoebe warns Leo to not disappear for too long, as the Callistos may need him. Leo says that it's nice to be needed when he suddenly disappears, leaving his Quantumatic behind.

Loretta then notices her Blastboard running into her, to which Miles and M.E.R.C. apologize. Blodger thanks Loretta for lending him her Blastboard. Admirals Watson and Crick call and inform the Callistos that their next mission is to find the Alpha One, the first deep space probe ever launched by the TTA. It has spent a long time gathering information about the galaxy for the TTA. Recently, however, it was damaged in a big asteroid field made up of very hard, very sharp diamonds. The Admirals tell the Callistos to pick up the probe before the asteroids smash it to bits. Once the coordinates are received to the Callistos, the transmission ends. Loretta says that the Callistos should be at the location in about three minutes. Phoebe tries to call Leo through her Questcom, but assumes that his Questcom must be off. Miles, Blodger, and M.E.R.C. assume that he's in the workshop.

However, they can't find Leo in the workshop or in the hangar. Miles asks Stella to locate Leo, but Stella says that she cannot locate Leo at this time. Miles informs Phoebe of such, and decides for him, Blodger, and M.E.R.C. to search the living quarters while Phoebe checks the engine room.

After searching the engine room, Phoebe sees Leo's Quantumatic in the hallway before disappearing. Back in the living quarters, Miles and M.E.R.C. have no luck finding Leo. Blodger, who eats a snack, says that he's also not in the pantry, which is where Blodger would go. Miles tries to contact Phoebe to no luck. Three banging sounds are then heard. Blodger assumes that Miles' parents are hiding for a surprise party (Blodger's birthday is coming up). Miles then contacts Loretta, who assumes that Phoebe must still be looking for Leo. Miles tells Stella to locate Phoebe, however, Stella does not detect Phoebe or Leo anywhere on the Stellosphere, surprising everyone, with Loretta stating that Leo and Phoebe wouldn't leave the ship without telling Miles and Loretta. With the ship approaching closer to the diamond asteroid field, Miles, Loretta, Blodger, and M.E.R.C. decide to find Phoebe and Leo. Loretta decides to retrace Phoebe's steps to the engine room, and Miles, Blodger, and M.E.R.C. decide to meet her there.

Once there, Loretta finds the Quantumatic left behind and informs Miles of such before the signal cuts off. Miles, M.E.R.C., and Blodger head to the hallway to find Loretta gone, leaving her Blastboard behind. Miles is worried about his missing parents just as the Stellosphere begins to shake. This is because the ship has entered the diamond asteroid field. After being acknowledged by Miles, Stella activates the ship's Galactech mode and shield. Miles decides to go to the bridge to take over piloting while Blodger and M.E.R.C. keep looking for the others. Blodger tells M.E.R.C. if the Callistos didn't disappear and if they shrank. Blodger then thinks that he sees the Callistos, but realizes that it is dust just as M.E.R.C. disappears.

On the bridge, Miles is piloting the ship around the various diamond asteroids. Blodger then appears and tells Miles about M.E.R.C. disappearing. Miles tells Stella to activate autopilot while he and Blodger search for everyone. Blodger shows Miles that M.E.R.C. was over by Loretta's Blastboard when he disappeared. The two decide to walk down the hallway back to back so they don't miss anything.

Eventually, Blodger disappears, and Miles wonders where everyone is. Just then, an asteroid impact deactivates the Stellosphere's Galactech mode and shield, and Stella informs Miles of such. With the autopilot also shut down, Miles decides to head to the bridge when he falls down the loose floor panel, meeting everyone else. Loretta then introduces the Callistos to the locked utility tunnel, where Questcoms don't work and Stella can't find anyone. Phoebe says that the energy running through its walls interferes with the signals. Leo says that he was fixing a loose floor panel up in the corridor when he fell through, like the Callistos all did. The Callistos couldn't pull open the door as there is nothing to grab onto. Loretta mentions that the door up ahead is locked on the Callistos' side. Miles tells Leo about Stella's autopilot being shut down.

Miles sees that the door has a little gap underneath, and decides for someone small to fit through the gap to hit the button on the other side, like Blodger. However, Blodger's arm is too short. Miles goes through the remaining options, and decides to place his Blastbuckle tether underneath the other side of the door so the Blastboard bounces all over there. Eventually, the Blastboard hits the button, allowing the Callistos to escape.

Once on the bridge, Miles controls the Stellosphere and dodges the ship around all the asteroids. With the Alpha One five kilometers directly ahead, Leo reduces speed and Miles activates the retrieval tether to pick up the probe, completing the mission.

The Callistos then tell Watson and Crick about the retrieval of the Alpha One, which the Admirals are proud of. They question where Leo is, and Miles says that he's just enjoying some peace and quiet after a crazy day. In the locked utility tunnel, Leo decides to take a nap when the Callistos and Blodger appear to spend time with him, with Miles saying that this is the time for peace and quiet for everybody. Leo accepts, as the more people involved, the merrier.

Trivia

  • This is the last episode to feature a new location in the Stellosphere.
    • That location is the locked utility tunnel, which is located under the hallway leading to the engine room. There, Questcoms don't work and Stella can't find anyone. This is because the energy running through its walls interferes with the signals.
  • This is the third and final time the entire Callisto family stays on the Stellosphere throughout the entire episode. The first was in "Catch That IOTA!" and the second was in "I, Stella".
    • This is also the only time Blodger stays on the ship throughout the entire episode.
  • This is the second time someone whistles the show's theme song "Way Out" during an episode, the first was in "Galloping Groundshakers".
  • This is the second time Blodger attempts to ride a Blastboard, the first was in "Explorer Exchange".
  • This is the last time the Stellosphere is shown in its Galactech mode and shield, and also the only time its Galactech mode and shield get deactivated due to an asteroid impact.
  • This is the last episode to feature the Stellosphere's engine room.
  • This is the last episode to have the shortened and instrumental version of "Way Out" be heard in the end credits.
    • This is also the last episode to have any version of that song be heard in the end credits until the series finale.
