"Galloping Groundshakers" is the first segment of the thirty-fourth episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on July 18, 2016 alongside "Galactech: March of the Robo-Penguins", and is the first segment of the fourth episode in the second season.
Synopsis[]
The Callistos' family adventure becomes a race to save a rare species.
Plot[]
The episode begins in Miles' room, where Phoebe tells Miles to wake up, although it is early. Phoebe says that it's the best time for a galactic adventure, which Miles likes. Phoebe also says that it's also the best time for breakfast, which M.E.R.C. likes.
Miles and Loretta question what adventure the Callistos will go on, and Phoebe says that it is something she used to love doing when she was young. Leo says that the Callistos will need their breakfast, but after Phoebe touches him, he almost ruins the surprise. Phoebe then announces that the Callistos will go to Planet Triptor to do some creature-riding. Leo says that that is what people do, like is like horseback riding on Earth. Phoebe used to ride creatures all the time as a kid. However, Loretta finds out the only creature big enough to ride on Triptor is a Groundshaker. Miles says that that is the giant alien dinosaur that tried to eat him, Leo, and M.E.R.C. once. Phoebe says that they're gentle once they're made friends with. Loretta hopes so.
Once the Callistos land on Triptor with the Star Jetter, they meet Fossick, who is the Callistos' guide. Fossick also has his machine bot crew working the mining stuff for him. Fossick tells the Callistos that they've come on a very rare day; today is the hatching of the feffers on Mount Triptor, surprising the Callistos. Loretta finds out through her Bracelex that feffers are beautiful. Fossick says that Mount Triptor is the only place in the universe where the feffers live. They also hatch from their cocoons once a year, tonight at starset.
The Callistos then get paired up with the Groundshakers. Phoebe rides Nova, and tells him that her favorite part of riding is getting to know his animal, learning what they like and don't like. Nova likes to have his chin scratched. Leo rides Comet Trail. After a few failed attempts, Leo successfully mounts him. Leo then activates his cowboy helmet and asks him how he got the name "Comet Trail" when he starts running uncontrollably. Fossick says that when the rider is calm, the Groudshaker is calm, and says that Leo will get the hang of it.
Next is Loretta, who gets lifted onto the saddle by Starshine's trail. Starshine is what the Callistos call Loretta. As for Miles and M.E.R.C., they'll be riding Apex. Apex is giving Miles and M.E.R.C. a sniff to see if they like him. The Callistos then ride their Groundshakers to Mount Triptor.
During the trip, Phoebe says that the Groundshakers can sense how they feel, but the Callistos have to pay attention to the Groundshakers and how they feel. Miles assumes that he is like Phoebe when it comes to creature riding; a natural. Miles then decides to play fetch with Apex, but when he throws his Lazerang and it comes back around, Miles falls off. This is because the Lazerang is like the slithers, which are snakes that glow, on this planet. Groundshakers can't abide slithers at all. While Fossick retrieves Apex, Miles thinks about leaving Apex alone, but Phoebe tells him that riding creatures takes patience, and that he can't give up at the first sign of trouble; instead, try again. Miles and M.E.R.C. board Apex again just as Comet Trail decides to race. The Groundshakers then make off, except for Apex. Miles decides to whistle to get Apex moving.
The Callistos then make it to Mount Triptor, where Miles sees the feffers getting ready to hatch. However, a slither appears, and Fossick's Groundshaker, Tallulah, runs away, as well as the other Groundshakers, causing rocks to fall off and block the river. Phoebe says that the Groundshakers have to run it out and meet up later. Apex then gets stuck in a field of cacti. The Callistos then tell Phoebe that they're okay. Phoebe decides to have them meet up at the river. Miles whistle to Apex, who then makes it out of the cacti field.
Once at the river, Fossick decides to go back, but Miles says that they can't give up at the first sign of trouble. Leo then sees the water, and Fossick says that the rocks they knocked loose plugged up the river. Miles then sees the water quickly rising, about to wash away the only feffers in the universe. Miles decides to unplug the river by using his Blastbuckle tether to attach the rocks to the Groundshakers.
Phoebe says that it is worth a try. M.E.R.C. attaches the Blastbuckle to the rocks, and Miles activates its multi-tether, connecting it to all of the Groundshakers. After being motivated by the Callistos and Fossick, the Groundshakers pull the rocks out, saving the feffers. The Callistos and Fossick get a closer look to see the feffers hatch. Fossick says that that is not only rare, it is downright beautiful. The episode ends with Phoebe saying that there is no one she would rather share it with while the feffers fly around, leaving colorful trails.
