The name's Gambit, mon ami. Remember it!
Gambit[src]

Gambit (real name Remy Etienne LeBeau) is a superhero from Marvel Comics. He is a mutant, commonly in association with the X-Men. His abilities are to mentally create, control, and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his desire.

Gambit was created by Chris Claremont and Arthur Adams.

Background[]

Powers and abilities[]

  • Kinetic energy generation and manipulation: Gambit has the ability to convert the potential energy stored in an inanimate object into pure light kinetic energy, thus "charging" that item with highly explosive results.
  • Combat: Gambit is extensively trained in martial arts, particularly Savate and the staff style art Bōjutsu. He is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, applying street-fighting techniques and acrobatics. Gambit is also a skilled card-thrower, so he throws his charged playing cards at opponents with great accuracy.

Weapons and equipment[]

  • Playing cards: Gambits prefers to create kinetic charges with smaller objects, such as his deck of playing cards, which he will use to charge and throw at his enemies.
  • Bō staff: Gambit also carries an extendable metal staff.

Appearances[]

Marvel Cinematic Universe[]

Deadpool & Wolverine[]

You know how long I've waited for this? (*whoops*) I'mma 'bout to make a name for myself, here!
Gambit[src]

Gambit appears in the film along X-23, Elektra Natchios, and Blade as part of a resistance group known by Deadpool as the "Others" who come to help Deadpool and Wolverine capture Cassandra Nova.

Trivia[]

  • Gambit was originally planned to make appearances in two other X-Men films.[citation needed]
    • James Bamford was set to make a cameo appearance as Gambit in X2, but the scene was cut.[citation needed]
    • Gambit appeared in an early draft of X-Men: The Last Stand as a new student of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and Iceman's rival for Rogue's affections. Before being cut from the film, Keanu Reeves was being considered, Channing Tatum auditioned for the role, Josh Holloway was offered, but declined due to scheduling conflicts with Lost, and Gregory Helms stated that he planned to read for the part.[citation needed]
