"Game Night" is the first segment of the twelfth episode of the Disney Channel animated series, The Ghost and Molly McGee.
Synopsis[]
The McGees lets competition get the best of them during family game night.
Plot[]
The McGees use a wheel to determine who will be doing what chore for the day. Being that Scratch is officially part of the family, he is forced to spin the wheel to get a chore and ends up having to clean the downstairs bathroom, much to his disgust. He attempts to get out of it by escaping to the Ghost Council (indirectly saving another ghost from the Flow of Failed Phantoms in the process) for anything to do for them, but he finds himself dismissed back to the house. While cleaning out the closet, Molly discovers the board game Mega City which the family use to play, but had to stop due to the competitive nature of the game and Sharon's supposed inability to win. The group, minus Sharon, play a game that ends in a tie, but before they can play another round, Sharon gets them to stop, claiming that their competitiveness was the reason Game Night was canceled.
While resuming their chores, Scratch gets the idea to use the game to his leverage. He propositions Molly, Darryl and Pete with stakes: Whoever loses has to do the winner's chores for the rest of the day. Sharon barges in; upset over the family playing the game behind her back, but ultimately decides to let them do what they want to do. The game goes on and it quickly becomes apparent that Scratch is using his ghostly moves to cheat at the game. Sharon (having secretly been hinted by Scratch that he "plays by his own rules") apparently notices this, but says nothing despite her fury. Ultimately, Scratch "wins" as the family is forced to clean the downstairs bathroom. After Darryl exposes to them that Scratch cheated, they demand another rematch. Sharon challenges Scratch to a one on one game; the winner never does chores again. but the loser cleans the bathroom forever.
To the surprise of everyone, Sharon turns out to be exceptionally good at Mega City to the point that she can combat Scratch's cheating tactics. She defeats Scratch and reveals that she was a former Junior Mega City champion from 1990-94 and '96 (she was disqualified from '95 from making her opponent cry). Realizing that she only let the others win by going easy on them and hid the game to protect them, Pete takes the board game and buries it in the backyard so that no one can play it ever again (though Sharon swore to find it again wherever it hides). As Scratch finally finishes cleaning the downstairs bathroom, Pete thanks him for being part of the family. Scratch tells Pete and his family to flush the toilet whilst keeping the downstairs bathroom clean in the future. Just then, Darryl hastily uses the toilet after trying the chili that Sharon cooked earlier causing Scratch to scream in torture mode, abruptly ending the episode.

Trivia[]
- This episode and the following one were originally scheduled for November 6, 2021, but they were shifted to premiere later in 2022 and were replaced with episodes "The Turnip Twist" and "All Systems No". The change was requested by the crew after they realized that the episode created continuity problems, specifically Molly's hatred of close-up magic which was properly revealed in "All Systems No" and was shown again in "Scratch the Surface".[1] However, the episode leaked online on January 27, 2022 through Disney+ Hotstar Southeast Asia.
- "Game Night" and "The Don't-Gooder" were later positioned between "Mazel Tov, Libby!"/"No Good Deed" and "Monumental Disaster"/"Talent Show" in the episode listing upon airing.
- Mega City is, of course, a play on Monopoly. It might also be inspired by the video game SimCity.
- The "Tower of Power" part of the game has similarities to the game Jenga (only it involves building the tallest tower while preventing it from falling).
- Sharon explains that she was a Junior champion in the 90's. This would imply that between 1990-96 she was a teenager.
- This is named after the episode of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse.
- The Molly and Scratch title card images are the same as the one for "Howlin' Harriet".
