Garden Central Station is a location from the 2023 Disney/Pixar animated feature film Elemental.
Background[]
Garden Central Station was a facility located in Element City. Decorated with glass windows within the building and as its name suggested, the building was themed around plants and types of vegetation themed after earth elements resembling that of a modern terminal station. The location itself housed a Vivisteria flower, a limited time exhibit that became popular amongst visitors. It was often visited by diverse elements of water, earth, and sky.
However, one day during Ember's childhood, her father Bernie wanted to take her to visit Garden Central Station so that she could see a Vivisteria flower, but her father was unable to, which the staff who work within the facility find fire elements dangerous to interact with other elements, prohibiting them from entering. However, at one point, a flood broke out into Garden Central Station, resulting in the entire room to be flooded with no plans to renovate or reopen the facility to the public, leaving it abandoned - albeit still with Vivisteria inside it. In the aftermath, this resulted in large plants and weeds growing along the sides of the building.
The sign outside the Garden Central Station is a "No Fire Allowed" policy with an image of a fire icon surrounded by a "No" symbol, a policy prohibiting fire elements from entering this location, which Bernie found it unfair for him.
Role in the film[]
After negotiating with Gale whose favorite team, the Windbreakers, won at the Cyclone Stadium, Ember and Wade ride on a hot air balloon where they pass by the remains of Garden Central Station. Ember recaps that when she was little, her father took her to this place to see a Vivisteria flower, which was her favorite flower and that she was excited to see it. However, a security guard refused to let Ember and her father enter, due to a policy prohibiting any fire element from entering as indicated by a "No Fire Allowed" sign outside showing the policy, which Bernie found it unfair. Hearing the argument, two angry pedestrians passed by to tell Bernie to return to his hometown Fireland, much to his frustration in finding this restriction unfair to him. Ember later recaps that the building was flooded years ago, causing her to miss her chance to see a Vivisteria.
Furthermore, Wade and Ember pass by the remains of Garden Central Station where they were able to go through the gates surrounding the flooded building. Just as they enter, they encounter Gale inside where Wade shows Ember the flooded tunnel leading to the main terminal located at the flooded facility. Wade offers Gale to help Ember see a Vivisteria, which she agrees to help, so she creates a fireproof air bubble in under twenty minutes.
Unsure about this, Ember becomes confident enough to enter the bubble just as she leaps inside while Wade pushes the bubble where Ember is placed. While navigating through the tunnel, Ember and Wade pass by the remains of Garden Central Station as well as following a school of fish across the remains. Suddenly, Ember sees a real Vivisteria bloom, followed by a tree full of Vivisteria flowers in it, just as the flowers bloom all around her, much to Ember's happiness. However, the air bubble starts to run out, leading Wade to bring Ember to the surface just before the bubble begins to burst. Wade and Ember suddenly end up in Mineral Lake. The Garden Central Station does not appear again throughout the rest of the film.
