"Getting the Band(shell) Back Together" is the first segment of the third episode of the Disney Channel animated series, The Ghost and Molly McGee.
On October 6, 2021, the episode was released early on Disney+.
Synopsis[]
When Molly learns about Brighton’s old outdoor concert Bandshell, she sets out to rebuild it to bring the community together.
Plot[]
The McGees take Scratch to the Brighton retirement home, much to his displeasure (he thought they were going to get tacos). They explain to him that they do volunteer work together as a way to bond with one another, which Scratch finds disgusting. Despite his efforts, the McGees force him to at least participate as an observer. Sharon teaches aerobics, Pete takes part in being a census taker, Darryl and Scratch play poker and Molly befriends Patty who recalls Brighton's exquisite structure, the bandshell, which was destroyed in a hurricane years ago. Feeling sympathetic, Molly decides that she will do everything in her power to get it rebuilt, despite the city feeling it is unnecessary.
The McGees go to Pete's workplace at townhall where Molly presents her project of a rebuilt bandshell to the Mayor. She initially presents an over the top expensive superdome, but reveals that she simply wants to build a smaller more personal one to make the budget distinct. Despite their sympathy, they ultimately turn her down. Molly gets the idea to collect money and she and Darryl go door to door and manage to rake in enough money to buy the supplies, but not to pay for workers or construction. Indirectly by Scratch, she gets the idea to suggest a community day to everyone in Brighton and puts up flyers all over town.
On the Community Day, nobody shows up severely disappointing Molly and causing Scratch to gloat, though he quickly becomes disappointed by her reaction. Suddenly, the seniors show up and in return for their visit decide to help them rebuild the bandshell. Soon other Brighton residents, including Molly's friends arrive and decide to help out too. Soon the bandshell is finally rebuilt with Patty thanking Molly and saying how happy she is to see everyone working and communicating together; exactly what she felt the bandshell did. The Mayor congratulates Molly on her success, but wonders who is going to play. Darryl plays his obnoxitron (which he played throughout the episode), much to Molly's annoyance and Scratch's enjoyment.
