Biography[]

Relationship with Justin Russo[]

Giada was born in Staten Island and was quite popular in high school. She used to enjoy pulling pranks and she played 4 years of field hockey. When Giada reached adulthood, she met Justin Russo after the Family Wizard Competition and after he stopped being a wizard because he got fired from WizTech. However, Giada had no clue that her partner was a wizard as he felt like a failure and kept that side of his life a secret from her, now wanting to live a mortal life.

Sometime in their 20s, Giada and Justin got married and welcomed two sons, named Roman and Milo Russo. Giada and Justin soon moved into their house and raised their sons in Staten Island.

Role in the series[]

On the morning of Giada's husband Justin Russo's 34th birthday, Giada tells Justin "Happy Birthday J-Man" when she wakes up. Giada plans to make Justin's 34th birthday special and plans to give a surprise, which he mistakes as his sister Alex visiting the family, when in reality Alex is trying to convince Justin to train a powerful young wizard, named Billie. Justin agrees but keeps the reason that Billie is staying, a secret from Giada. However, the kids and Giada find out that Justin is a wizard, especially when Giada witnesses him doing magic. Stunned with the revelation, Giada struggles to accept her husband's true self as she believes the man she married is not the same guy, but soon accepts and understands as to why he didn't tell her.

Giada quickly becomes excited about Justin's family background, but does worry for their sons' safety, while supporting Justin at the same time. Giada soon adjusts to the wizarding world after learning about how magic works. With Billie staying with them, Giada starts to see her a daughter figure and shows care and support for her, seeing her as a daughter-figure.

Trivia[]

  • Both Giada's first and married last name are Italian names.
    • The name Giada is an Italian feminine name that means "Jade" in Italian. Giada is part Italian just like her husband Justin Russo.[2]
  • Giada is similar to her mother-in-law Theresa Russo in some ways they both married a wizard who gave up his powers so he can marry a mortal because wizards can't marry non-wizards.
    • That said, Justin was actually still a wizard when he met Giada but did not tell her like Jerry did with Theresa, because he had been fired from WizTech and wanted to leave that side of his life behind, as he wanted to live a normal life.
  • Giada loves Leopard Print. The majority of her clothes, including PJs, are leopard print.
  • Giada's relationship with Justin mirrors his parents' relationship in the sense that Justin married Giada who is a mortal, just like how Jerry Russo married mortal Theresa Russo. There is a difference in the fact that Theresa knew Jerry was a wizard when they met, but Giada didn't find out that Justin was a wizard until several years into their marriage.
    • Justin kept his powers despite marrying Giada while Jerry had to give up his powers because wizards were not allowed to marry mortals when they were younger. Since Justin didn't have to give up his powers to marry Giada, it is likely that the rule was changed.
  • The company that Giada works at is called WOWP, which are the initials of the original series' title.
  • In Saved by the Spell, it was revealed that Giada did 4 years of Field Hockey.
  • In Quest Birthday Ever!, it was revealed that Giada is a fan of the band NSYNC and her favorite member is Chris Kirkpatrick.
  • In Hit Me With Your Best Bot, it was revealed that Giada was born on a Black Friday, which makes her birthday late November. She also tries a fairy lotion at the Wizard Market, which turns her into a Troll for an hour. It is yet to be confirmed which year and official date Giada was born, since Back Friday varies over the years.
  • It's revealed in Something Wizard This Way Comes that Giada used to pull pranks and has lived in Staten Island since she was young.
  • Giada shares some similarities with Harper Finkle from the old series, who had a crush on Justin
    • Both are red heads.
    • Both love out-there designs and fashion.
      • Before the series was released, Giada was mistaken for Harper in photos due to her red hair, causing some fans to believe Justin had married Harper. Its quite ironic that Justin married someone with similar interests to Harper considering he did not have any interest in her at all.
  • Giada and Justin having two sons and a daughter-figure in Billie mirrors the previous two generations of the Russo family, as Hank and Rose Russo had two sons named Kelbo and Jerry Russo, as well as a daughter named Megan, and Jerry then welcomed Justin, Alex and Max Russo.
