The Giant Donut Diner is a location featured in the 2021 Disney+ original film Flora & Ulysses.
Background[]
The Giant Donut Diner is a restaurant located in the suburban community of Vancouver, Canada. It is the place where a waitress named Rita works at the restaurant and hence its name, donuts are the main item used throughout the restaurant. In spite of selling donuts, the restaurant also sells other products such as omelettes or coffees and drinks. Although the staff serve food to the customers kindly, the restaurant has a zero-tolerance policy on animals treated as pests inside the restaurant such as squirrels.
The logo for this restaurant contains a cartoony illustration of a donut filled with sprinkles and pink frosting next to a blue cup of coffee which overlaps the donut. Additionally, a giant donut placed on a cup of coffee on a dish stands on the roof of the building with the letters spelling the restaurant's name placed on it.
Role in the film[]
When George feels hungry, he stops at the Giant Donut Diner where he and his daughter Flora enter inside. As they encounter a friendly waitress named Rita who approaches the two and asks them for their order. George replies to Rita that he will order a bacon omelette while Flora interrupts, asking her to add donuts to her order. Rita curiously asks Flora if there is a kitten inside the box, only to find out that Ulysses, a squirrel, is inside instead, frightening her and the remaining people inside the restaurant, mistaking him for a rabid squirrel. Ulysses lands on Rita's head just before being snatched by a chef who attempts to smash him with a napkin holder, only for Ulysses to launch and inadvertently cause a mess, much to everyone's shock about the squirrel's powers. George and his daughter both leave the restaurant.
Later, Miller approaches Rita who tells her about the squirrel he is looking for that caused an incident at the Giant Donut Diner. As he goes into a conversation with Rita, he tells her that squirrels are wild animals, despite being docile, explaining that it's his job to keep the town safe from any animal-related incidents. During a newsflash, Flora and William watch the news of Rita interviewing with a reporter about the squirrel incident she had at her diner where she thinks that the squirrel she saw is a rabid squirrel, making Ulysses a fugitive. This leads Flora to warn her father about Ulysses. The next day, Miller (who is inside the restaurant) uses his laptop where he sees footage of several diners and one of them having footage of Ulysses which Rita thinks the squirrel is spreading rabies at the restaurant, finding out that this event happened before, trying to track down the squirrel. The restaurant does not appear again throughout the rest of the film.

- One of the stands located across the Giant Donut World is a fish and chips stand named "Frying Nemo", a nod to Finding Nemo.[1]
