Gladys Maria Knight, known as the "Empress of Soul," is an American singer-songwriter, actress, businesswoman, humanitarian, and author who is best known hits she recorded during the 1960s and 1970s, for both the Motown and Buddah Records labels, with her group Gladys Knight & the Pips.

Her only role in a Disney-related production so far was a guest appearance on The Muppet Show in episode 516. Her songs "Friendship Train" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" (where she sang along with her group The Pips) appeared on the DTV video release DTV: Rock, Rhythm & Blues.
