The corrupt institution has been dismantled, yes. We cut down the tree, we pulled up the roots, but let's just say I'll rest easier when we put them all on the bonfire.
―Glenn Talbot to George Stephanopoulos[src]

Major Glenn Talbot is a Marvel Comics character that appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Glenn Talbot was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

Background

Powers and Abilities

  • Gravitokinesis: Glenn Talbot went insane after being tortured for monts by General Hale. This eventually led him to infuse himself with the Gravitonium (a rare atomic gravitational substance) inside the Lighthouse, which gave him gravitational powers and the ability to absorb both more Gravitonium and people inside of him. With his new powers, Talbot could manipulate gravitons, enabling him to control gravity itself and surround any object or person (including himself) with gravitons.
    • Absorption: As Graviton, Talbot could absorb more of this substance along with other beings into himself by using black tentacles made of Gravitonium that emerged from his body.
      • Power Augmentation: The more Gravitonium Talbot absorbed, the more powerful he got, believing that her also could absorb the consciousness and abilities of his victims.
    • Psychic Link: Talbot could telepathically communicate with other beings absorbed by the Gravitonium.
    • Flight: By decreasing the pull of gravity beneath him, Talbot could fly at any speed or height.
    • Force Field Generation: Talbot could create a gravitational force field around him capable of protecting him from any concussive force.
    • Superhuman Durability: After being infused with Gravitonium, Talbot's skin, bones, and tissue became far denser and resistant to damage when compared to an ordinary human.
    • Gravitonium Detection: Talbot could detect where Gravitonium when he was more close of it.

Role in the series

Glenn Talbot is a United States Air Force colonel and later brigadier general who hunts active S.H.I.E.L.D. agents after the organization's disbandment. In "Shadows", while he spent time with his wife and son, Coulson informs him that Creel try to kill him, Talbot does not believe him and breaks the phone. Creel suddenly appears and tries to kill him but is saved by Skye and May. When he enters in his truck, Talbot finds Melinda May. Coulson asks him to help him but the General is not willing to help then Coulson shoots a tranquilizer. Talbot then wakes up in his truck and call its base to increase the security.

In "A Fractured House", a group of mercenaries led by Marcus Scarlotti attacked the United Nations headquarters while he gave a speech. Later, Senator Ward and General Talbot have a conversation. He tells the Senator that he knows that his brother was HYDRA agent, but he will not reveal it. After capturing Scarlotti and his group of mercenaries, he informs agent May that Julien Beckers was captured when he tried to leave the country.

Agent 33 disguised as Carla Talbot was able to infiltrate to a military base. Talbot thinking that was his wife, Carla gave her the permission to enter the base. Shortly afterwards, Carla called him to say she was going to be late because of traffic, Talbot realized that a spy was in his base. He himself was in charge of questioning the staff, however Agent 33 had already taken another look. Later, he told Phil Coulson and Melinda May that Agent 33 and Grant Ward had been released Sunil Bakshi for unknown reasons; Coulson promised he would capture the duo.

After consuming and being corrupted by the Gravitonium, Talbot takes control of an alien Confederacy's primary ship, appropriates an alien costume, and murders the wisest leader to force forces his way into the alien group. Deliriously claiming that he can save the world from Thanos, Talbot kills his Hydra handler General Hale, forces Coulson's cooperation, and kidnaps the Robin Hinton (a prophetic Inhuman) to search for more gravitonium and absorb. However, he was eventually defeated by agent Daisy Johnson, who blasts him into space, averting an alternate timeline where he had inadvertently destroyed the Earth in his search for gravitonium.
