"Going Batty" is the first segment of the first episode of Vampirina. It premiered on October 1, 2017 alongside "Scare B&B".
Plot[]
In the Hauntleys' new house, Vampirina is chasing Demi while her parents are telling her to slow down. She also crashes into the painting of Uncle Deiter. Vampirina thinks this is a spooky house, and is excited, as since the Hauntleys have moved in, they can make new friends. The parents tell her that sometimes, humans are a little "jumpy" or "screamy" and get terrified of things they have never seen before. Boris suggests the family looking less like vampires and pretend to be normal human beings to be less scary.
The first visitor arrives, giving flowers and cookies to the Hauntleys. She introduces himself as Edna Peepleson, who lives next door with her twinigans, Edgar and Poppy. The Hauntleys are delighted to see her and introduce themselves. Edna says that the cookies are oatmeal raisin. Edna is a little bit frightened about the picture looking at her, the moving Gregoria gargoyle, and the moving plant before running away. The Hauntleys thank her for stopping by. Vampirina assumes that making human friends will be harder than she thought.
Just then, she turns into a bat, as a result of her having a case of the batties. Oxana tells her that all vampires get the batties when they're nervous. Vampirina is scared about the big move from Romania to Pennsylvania, and wonders if she won't make any friends in Pennsylvania. She then sings a song about how she always had friends back at Romania and how she thinks she won't do the same in Pennsylvania. She wonders if there is a human out there who likes her for her. Her parents reassure her that she will make friends, and to do so, they suggest she go outside and play.
After Vampirina flies down to the ground, Demi hides when he sees the neighbors. Edgar catches Bridget's cat, to which he apologizes. Poppy assumes that there's nothing weird in the house next door. She, Bridget, and Edgar then see Vampirina, and introduce themselves. Vampirina tells them that she wants someone to play with, and that it's nice to see human kids.
Bridget assumes that it may be haunted, but Poppy says that although it may look that way, it may not be the same inside. It is also revealed that Edgar has a web show called Weekly Weirdness, which will gain more viewers if he gets one good shot of something creepy in the house. Vampirina, worried that Edgar's show might expose her as a vampire, assumes that everything is totally normal. She says that the house has always belonged to her family. She tells them to come over to her house, which says is not haunted, and they agree.
Before the tour begins, Bridget gets scared, claims she has to go to brush her cat's hair, and immediately flees the house. Vampirina tells her parents that she brought some new friends over, and they welcome Poppy and Edgar to their house. Vampirina and Poppy play with their toys, as they think they're awesome. Edgar thinks it is boring and leaves. Demi appears, shocking Poppy. As a result, Vampirina turns into a bat, revealing her identity to Poppy and shocking her even more. She turns back into herself and apologizes for trying to scare her. She says that she is sometimes a bat, and that it is fun to be able to fly.
When Edgar returns, having heard Poppy's screaming, Poppy covers for Vee and tells her that what she and Vampirina have in common is listening to Justin Teether and the Singing Sirens. Edgar thinks that this is the scariest thing he's seen all day before leaving. Poppy states that she was scared of her, but then realized Vampirina is herself. Poppy wanted to be a friend of Vampirina before the latter turned into a bat. They then decide to be friends, although Vampirina is a vampire, and they dance it out.
