"Goofy's Valentine Date" is the fourth episode of House of Mouse, it originally aired on ABC on February 10, 2001. It is notably the first episode of the series to not feature any newly-made Mouse Works cartoons.

Synopsis[]

It's Valentine's Day and Goofy is sad that he doesn't have a sweetheart to spend the day with. Mortimer offers to demonstrate how to pick-up women, but his own attempts all prove fruitless. Meanwhile, Daisy, feeling sorry for Goofy, wants to help him, but Minnie tells her not to meddle. Daisy doesn't listen, however, and sends Goofy an e-mail claiming to be from a secret admirer. After Goofy shows off the letter to the girls, Daisy begs Minnie to help her. They set Goofy up on a blind date (literally, as they have him wearing a blindfold) with a hat rack dressed up like a woman, saying that "she's shy and doesn't talk much." Eventually, however, Mortimer crashes into him, having been knocked away by the Queen of Hearts' flamingo, and knocks Goofy's blindfold off. Goofy walks off dejectedly, thinking he still doesn't have anybody. But after the last cartoon is shown, Goofy, now in a much better mood, tells Minnie and Daisy that he thinks he's figured out who his secret admirer really was - Clarabelle.

Trivia[]

  • In this episode, Goofy claims that he doesn't have a love interest, though he started dating Clarabelle in subsequent episodes of the series, much like in Mickey Mouse Works and in most other media. This is in stark contrast to the end the movie An Extremely Goofy Movie (which takes place shortly before this show), Sylvia Marpole is depicted as Goofy's love interest. Had this continuity been taken into consideration, this could be likely that either the entire events of An Extremely Goofy Movie are completely ignored entirely where Sylvia doesn't exist in this entire Mickey Mouse universe, or both Sylvia and Goofy likely had split up between the events of An Extremely Goofy Movie and this show. Of course, this episode isn't likely canon to that film.
  • Donald does not appear in this episode (not counting his appearance in Donald's Valentine Dollar).
  • The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Ballerina from the "Piano Concerto No. 2" segment of Fantasia 2000 made a cameo appearance when Mickey told everyone to kiss their sweethearts.
  • Minnie asks if Goofy got stuck in the sink again, referring to what happened in "Timon and Pumbaa"; however, due to this episode being moved up to air right before Valentine's Day, "Timon and Pumbaa" was aired two weeks after this episode.
  • Scar makes a cameo appearance in this episode when Goofy walks to the kitchen blindfolded.
