Henry Z. "Hank" Jones, Jr. is a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists and former actor. His Disney roles include Gudger Larkin in Blackbeard's Ghost, Sir Lancelot and the Surfer Dude in Herbie Rides Again, a Policeman in The Shaggy D.A., and an Officer in The Cat from Outer Space.

Jones was born in Oakland, California and raised in San Leandro, California and attended San Leandro High School and Stanford University majoring in communications. While in school he was singer in his own band, Hank Jones & The White Bucks, and later formed the duo Hank and Dean with his schoolfriend Dean Kay. They had their first record contract with RCA Victor in 1961. Later albums were recorded with Capitol and Epitomé Records. However, when Kay was drafted into the army, Jones began to shift towards TV entertainment and show-biz.

On television, he was featured in many commercials and had roles in My Three Sons, The Patty Duke Show, Petticoat Junction, Love, American Style, The Jeffersons, The Love Boat, Mork & Mindy, and was a featured three times champion on the popular TV quiz show Jeopardy!. Some of his film credits include Village of the Giants, Girl Happy, The Young Warriors, Tora! Tora! Tora!, and The Love Doctors.

In 1981, he withdrew from the entertainment industry and increasingly turned to genealogy, his hobby from childhood. Over the years, Jones has published several books on this subject such as The Palatine Families of Ireland and The Palatine Families of New York.
