The two children, lost in the woods, stumble upon a dwarf village. They become friends with dwarves before they are manipulated and kidnapped by an evil witch. They're lured into her candy house, with cruel intentions, but are saved by the dwarves, along with some other children, and the witch meets her end.
Hansel and Gretel (1967)[]
In this canceled adaptation, the children would start out as rebellious and not well-behaved, wreaking havoc on their newest housekeeper who gets fed up to the point of quitting. When a witch disguises herself as the new housekeeper to trick their father into giving her the gift of true love, the children keep interfering with her plans, leading her to decide she must get rid of them in order to succeed.
Hansel and Gretel appear in the TV Film made by Tim Burton in 1982 as two siblings who live with their father and their wicked stepmother who leaves them in the forest. In the forest the two find a house made of gingerbread and candy and within the house lives a wicked witch who tries to kill them but both defeat her and they return to their father.
