Henry Gordon is a character from the 2020 Disney+ original film Black Beauty.
Background[]
Henry Gordon serves as the boss of Birtwick Stables who works with John Manly in New York. He would occasionally talk to John in situations when he approaches him, showing that he communicates to anyone who he meets, especially when it comes to John. However, one day, he attempts to make a tough decision to John to sell Black Beauty for more space at Birtwick, which lead Jo to train Beauty so that he would not have to sell her. However, since the fire incident that happened one night, Gordon adapted his life after the area suffered damage from the fire, even before Beauty was reunited with Jo.
Role in the film[]
Henry Gordon is first seen witnessing John Manly's arrival rehabilitating Black Beauty to a better home which Gordon describes Beauty being a rather tame horse (which John was going to say in the first place). He is later seen giving Beauty a companion - Ginger, followed by James bringing another horse to accompany her named "Merrylegs". He also became aware of John who is stressed out during his duty as a horse trainer with his niece Jo Green and Black Beauty who both have different means of frustrations in life. However, when Jo bonds with Black Beauty, Gordon questions John is Jo is not afraid to ride, which Joe denies.
However, one day, Gordon then spoke to John, telling him that he can't lead Black Beauty, due to her being a wild horse, planning to make space in the ranch to which Jo tells Beauty that according to Gordon, he will send Beauty to somewhere else if she does not get tamed. This leads Jo to place a strap around her head, telling her that the strap doesn't hurt her, which Gordon happily sees Jo placing a strap on Beauty while taming her; Gordon later became aware of Jo riding on Beauty which he reacts in shock as James reports to him, thinking that Beauty escaped, leading James, John, and Mr. Gordon to try to make sure Jo is safe which Jo and Beauty got the hang of their bond together.
After the summer ended, Gordon approaches a new groom, while John tells him to avoid getting distracted on his phone while working at the ranch. The next day after the Birtwick Stables closed due to a fire that damaged, Gordon discusses with Jo, telling her that the all the trained horses must be sold, due to the stable damaged by the fire last night, leading Jo to find another way to save Beauty, just as Gordon tells her that there is a chance that he might be able to save Beauty if she makes a deal. However, Beauty manages to return home to Birtwick which was suddenly saved from bankruptcy, although Gordon does not appear again afterwards.

- Henry Gordon in the Disney film adaptation of Black Beauty is completely different from a character named Squire Gordon, who was Black Beauty's second owner in the original book.
