Hercules is an upcoming American musical film, and a live-action remake of the animated 1997 film of the same name.[1]

On April 30, 2020, a live-action remake of Hercules was announced, via The Hollywood Reporter. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings writer, Dave Callaham is penned to write the script, while Marvel directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, are set to produce.[1] The film will not be a literal adaptation of the original, but may contain a few elements. They added that they are unsure if their film will be a musical or not.[2]
On June 17, 2022, Deadline reported that Guy Ritchie had been hired to direct the film, after previously working on Aladdin.[3]
On November 1, 2022, in an interview with Variety, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo revealed that Ritchie is rewriting the script, and that the film will be a musical.[4]
