"Hercules and the Owl of Athens" is the 14th episode in season 1 of Hercules: The Animated Series.
Plot[]
Ares has a settle to score with Athena after she plays a practical joke by shaving his dogs of war. In return, he sends his sons, Fear and Terror, to kidnap her precious Owl of Wisdom to exact his revenge. Athena entrusts the bird to Hercules, which works out nicely, as it is mid-terms week, newly invented by the history teacher, and the owl gives instant smarts to whoever possesses it. But when Hercules inadvertently loses the bird to Ares' dimwitted sons, he is challenged to a game of wits known as "It is All Greek to me" to win him back, and learns a valuable lesson in learning knowledge for knowledge's sake.

Trivia[]
- The monster that fought Hercules in his dream was a bigger recolored version of the creature that pulled Hades's chariot.
- This episode is seemingly set after the events of "Hercules and the Long Nightmare" and "Hercules and the Prometheus Affair", as Hercules is shown to have a bad dream and knowing about Zeus punishing Prometheus.
