Hick Rooster[1][2] is a character featured in the 1935 Silly Symphony animated short Cock o' the Walk.
Background[]
Personality[]
Hick is a shy, yet heroic rooster who is shown to be Prunella Pullet's love interest. During his relationship with Prunella, the latter became grateful with him, happy that this is the gift she likes. However, when Prunella becomes distracted upon seeing the Cock o' the Walk, she became disinterested into continuing her relationship with Hick. This, however, made Hick jealous that she is dating another rooster as her boyfriend. After Prunella reveals that the champ is not related to her at all, she inspires Hick to be her love interest in replacing the champ. To his optimism, Hick manages to defeat the champ, Prunella praises him for being a hero, making Hick her love interest again.
Appearances[]
Cock o' the Walk[]
Hick is first seen approaching Prunella, giving her an ear of corn, which she happily reacts to the gift he gave to her, making her feel grateful of Hick's gift. As Prunella kisses him for giving her this gift, Hick happily reacts after being kissed by her. However, Prunella becomes distracted upon seeing the Cock o' the Walk pass by, making her disinterested into spending her relationship with Hick just as she goes to the boxing ring so that the champ can get her attention.
Furthermore, Hick becomes jealous and enters the boxing ring, defending Prunella from the champ, much to the her feeling disinterested with Hick after Prunella reveals that she has a new boyfriend. As the Cock o' the Walk approaches Hick, the other hens laugh and humiliate the latter, much to his anger just as the champ places Prunella out of the ring to defend her. Hick engages in a confrontation against the champion to which during the battle, he punches Hick several times, causing him to be flung onto the ring's ropes. As the champ begins to chase Hick across the ring, Prunella cheers on the champ to help him win, but not before the champion's bag falls next to her which suddenly opens.
After Prunella finds the champ's family photo and reveals that he is not part of her family, this inspires her to kiss Hick to help him fight and beat the champ. To Hick's optimism, he was able to defeat the Cock o' the Walk, punching him and tossing him onto the world's champion trophy, which Prunella becomes impressed that he was able to defeat the champ. With the champ defeated, Prunella cheers on Hick for his victory, just as the two dance together in the boxing ring. After dancing, Hick and Prunella kiss and fall in love with each other.
