"Hide & Shriek" is the first segment of the eighth episode of Vampirina. It premiered on October 20, 2017 alongside "The Little Witch".
Plot[]
Vampirina is playing catch with Bridget, Demi, Gregoria, and Poppy. She mentions that her parents won't be back from dinner for at least another hour. Demi suggests to play a new game, and Vampirina decides for them to play hide-and-shriek. The thing is, Bridget has never won a game of hide-and-shriek. She mentions that the pressure always gets to her. Vampirina suggests Bridget search for a place now, before the counting begins. Demi guesses all of Bridget's ideas. However, Bridget thinks of an idea about where to hide.
The game then begins, and Vampirina quickly sees Bridget hiding behind the hamper. Bridget mentions that finding someplace new sounds scary. Vampirina decides for everyone to show Bridget some of their favorite hiding places, so she can see that they aren't scary. They then sing a song about the different hiding places the Scare B&B has. Vampirina reassures Bridget that things aren't as scary as they may seem. They have time for one more round.
So far, Vampirina finds Gregoria and they find Poppy. They also find Demi blessing Vampirina after she sneezes. Bridget is still unable to be found. Vampirina decides for everyone to continue their search for Bridget by putting themselves in their shoes. They decide to head to the basement to search for her. Vampirina finds a piece of Bridget's hair, and decides for everyone to split up. Demi finds pumpkers, his favorite stuffed pumpkin from when he was a little ghostling. Demi activates a switch that takes him to a different part of the room. Everyone then heads through it and also finds footprints which they follow.
Once they hear a roar, they quickly retreat. Vampirina assumes that Bridget is terrified. Vampirina mentions that sometimes, new things can seem scary, until you see them for what they really are. Poppy assumes that if Bridget is brave enough to go down there, they owe it to her to go, as well. Vampirina tells everyone to be brave like Bridget. They then find a door which scares them, but Vampirina says that it's all in their heads. She then opens the door, which reveals a storage closet of Halloween costumes. Poppy wonders where Bridget is. Bridget reveals herself to be practicing her ogre roars. Everyone is delighted to see Bridget okay. Bridget is having so much fun working on her roar and playing with the costumes, and once she found the place, she forgot there was still a game of hide-and-shriek going on. Bridget assumes that trying new things really can be fun, and someday, she'll be as brave as everyone who played hide-and-shriek today. She is then called the brave one and the winner of hide-and-shriek. Demi finds a gargoyle statue and hides himself in it. Gregoria then chases him around the house. Meanwhile, Vampirina, Poppy, and Bridget are delighted about the costumes.
