The High Evolutionary is a supervillain from Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is the main antagonist of the 2023 film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He is a galactic scientist who aspires to create the perfect race, leading to his experiments with animals such as Rocket Raccoon.
The High Evolutionary was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

The High Evolutionary doesn't make an appearance, but he is alluded by Yondu Udonta while arguing with Rocket Raccoon. Knowing about Rocket's connection to the Evolutionary, Yondu taunts Rocket by saying that he knows that the scientists who made him didn't really care for him, angering the genetically-modified racoon.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3[]
The High Evolutionary appears as the film's main villain. He is the one responsible behind Rocket Racoon's origins, who in turn makes him one of the most focused characters in the threequel.
Marvel Animation[]
Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.[]
The High Evolutionary belongs to a possible future in which a gamma meteor struck on the Earth and forced humanity to regress into a primitive state, leading the Evolutionary to arise and turn all humans into Animal Men. However, when the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. accidentally time travel to that future and face the High Evolutionary, they turn him into a baby and return to the present day to avert the disaster that created the Evolutionary's dark future.
Guardians of the Galaxy[]
The High Evolutionary's ship is infiltrated by Gamora and Nebula, who intend to rewarm the realm within the sarcophagus they have been both trapped in, coming across him when the Evolutionary tries to experiment on Yondu Udonta.
The High Evolutionary later returns when Rocket Racoon and Adam Warlock travel to Halfworld in hopes to re-evolving the former's family, but are accidentally absorbed by their gem, which the Evolutionary intends to use for his experiments.

- In the comics, High Evolutionary is also responsible for granting Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver their super powers, which retcons their species status as mutates, instead as mutants.
