"Home" is the sixth episode and series finale of the Disney+ streaming television miniseries Secret Invasion and was released on July 26, 2023. It was written by Kyle Bradstreet and Brian Tucker and directed by Ali Selim.
Synopsis[]
All hope for humanity rests on Fury's shoulders.
Plot[]
Returning home after an ambush, Varra receives a call from Nick Fury, who is going to the last stand against Gravik. Afterwards, two New Skrullos guards get gunned down by Nick Fury, who then makes his way to the compound.
Raava tries to convince Ritson to take an immediate action and authorize an attack on the Skrull compound, while the United States Navy advises him to postpone it. Raava denies the possibility of the motorcade attack to be a false flag operation and insists that Russia is directly responsible. She then shows Ritson satelite images of the Russian Armed Forces moving their tanks to the borders of Finland and Ukraine, stating it to be a proof of Russia preparing for the war with the United States. Raava then is informed by Sonya Falsworth that Fury is going to make Ritson to stop the strike at all costs, advising Raava to move him out of there.
Upon entering the compound and witnessing the aftermath of the Skrulls' mutiny, Fury starts suffering from radiation poisoning but walks into the facility, where he faces Gravik. The two talk and Gravik tells Fury that the human appearance he assumed belonged to the first human he killed on Fury's orders. He lashes out on Fury for using Skrulls for all these years, saying Talos was weak and forced Skrulls into hiding. Gravik angrily tells Fury that after his death, he will bring the extinction upon humanity and all of it would be Fury's fault. Fury admits that he failed Gravik and other Skrulls for not making them a home on Earth after failing to find them a suitable planet, saying that saving people is easier than changing their minds.
Fury then reminiscences over the Snap and how he felt the relief of finally having a way out, before disintegrating. He then tells Gravik that he returned on Earth because of feeling responsible for him and everything he had done on Earth because of Fury breaking his promise. Fury then gives Gravik the Harvest in exchange of leaving Earth and finding another planet to conquer, but Gravik ignores it and takes the Harvest. While the weakened Fury is lying inside the Skrull Power Replicator, Gravik loads the Harvest's DNA samples into the machine and activates it, before stepping inside. Gravik infuses himself with all the DNA samples and becomes the Super-Skrull, preparing to kill Fury, however, it turns out that G'iah was under Fury's disguise all along and received the Super-Skrull powers as well.
Meanwhile, the real Fury takes out the Secret Service detail guarding Ritson with a tranquilizer, before confronting Raava with Falsworth. Fury tries convince Ritson that he is being played and Raava is actually a Skrull, asking him to call of the strike. He claims that the Skrull Resistance had been kidnapping and replacing the world officials and all of them will die if Ritson will not listen. Raava dismisses everything and assures Ritson that all of their enemies will be vanquished, as long as doesn't stray off the path. As the United States Armed Forces prepare to launch a nuclear strike, Raava tries to attack Falsworth but gets killed by Fury. Witnessing his true face and realizing that Fury was telling the truth, Ritson immediately calls off the strike.
Both possessing the Super-Skrull abilities, G'iah and Gravik engage in a duel, in which G'iah defeats and kills Gravik. She then liberates the humans who had been kept at the compound, including the real James Rhodes and Everett Ross. As the invasion was thwarted, Ritson addresses the state and reveals the existence of Skrulls, branding them as wanted terrorists and ratifying a bill that allows to kill any Skrull on sight. Fury meets with Varra one more time before his departure, saying that if she is willing to give him one more chance, she knows where to find him. Falsworth recruits G'iah, offering a mutually beneficial partnership, before she and MI6 find dozens of humans who were captured by Skrulls throughout the years.
Fury confronts Ritson on his anti-Skrull rhetoric which led to a massive killings of alleged Skrulls around the globe, which also involve human casualties. He demands Ritson to call of his war but Ritson refuses to budge, saying that if he wants Skrulls to be alive, they must leave the Earth and find a new planet to settle in peace. As Fury prepares to leave again, he gets approached by Varra and tells her that Kree are willing to start peace talks, offering her to join S.A.B.E.R. as a diplomat. Varra reluctantly agrees but only to help him get started, letting him know that she still has business on Earth. She then assumes her original form and the two share a kiss, before leaving the Earth.
