The shorts' premise is reminiscent of the Looney Tunes shorts Duck Amuck and Rabbit Rampage and also has similarities to the viral video series Animator vs Animation.
The second short features Mickey whistling on a boat, an obvious reference to Steamboat Willie.
In the seventh short, Minnie, instead of her red skirt with white polka dots, wears a plain blue skirt similar to the one she wore in the 1936 short, Mickey's Rival.
The beginning and the end of the second short where Mickey doesn't have his ears and can't hear anything is a reference to episode 9 of the 2013 Mickey Mouse series, Bad Ear Day.
Zeno Robinson voiced the animator in the Mickey and Suga Mama episodes, while Dee Bradley Baker voiced the animator in the Doof episode. Debra Wilson also voiced the animator in the Moon Girl episode while Sarah-Nicole Robles also voiced the animator in the Minnie episode.
The series was added to Disney+ on August 2, 2023.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur were the first Marvel characters to be the subject of an episode.
Flik became the first Pixar character to be the subject of an episode, marking his true return to animation 25 years since A Bug's Life. Additionally, his appearance was probably meant to be a cross promotion with the Disney+ docuseries by National Geographic, A Real Bug's Life, hence why the episode featured scientific facts about ants.
The Donald Duck episode is made to co-alongside the character's 90th birthday, hence the birthday party theme and the versions of Donald featured in the episode.
At the end of the Grunkle Stan episode, a cipher code in its mock up YouTube error screen is shown reading: "HTTP ERROR 502: EB WUDQVODWLQJ WKLV FRGH BRX DUH KHUHEB DJUHHLQJ WR OHW ELOO FLSKHU WDNH SHUPDQHQW FRQWURO RI BRXU PLQG. JRRG OXFN ZLWK WKDW!" When translated it reads: "BY TRANSLATING THIS CODE YOU ARE HEREBY AGREEING TO LET BILL CIPHER TAKE PERMANENT CONTROL OF YOUR MIND. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!"
In the part where Dr. Doofenshmirtz erases Candace's mouth in "Dr. Doofenshmirtz Cartoon Come to Life!", a table napkin with sketches of Phineas can be seen; which is the drawings that Dan Povenmire drew in a restaurant which became the inspiration for him to create Phineas and Ferb with Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.
