"How to Build a Better Villain" is the first segment of the sixty-first episode of Miles from Tomorrowland. It premiered on October 24, 2017 alongside "The Goopopolis Swindle", and is the first segment of the seventh episode in the third season.

Synopsis[]

After Miles creates a video game villain, he takes on a life of his own and traps the team inside the game!

Plot[]

In the Zenith, Miles is looking for the go-back button. Loretta tells him that he has grown a lot as Captain of Mission Force One, but is still a mess. Mirandos and Haruna can't believe The GameMaster invited the team to her planet. Miles finally finds the go-back button. Blodger doesn't believe it until Miles activates it. Mission Force One then heads through the portal to Lumaro while M.E.R.C. stays in the Zenith.

Once there, they are greeted by The GameMaster, who loves what they do. Mission Force One loves what The GameMaster does, and Mirandos says that coming to Lumaro is a dream come true. The GameMaster then shows the team why she invited them over.

The GameMaster just finished building the new workspace. It's a place where anyone can come and create a game. The GameMaster wants game making to be something everyone can do, and she wants Mission Force One to be the first to try it out and to find any software bugs. Loretta says that a software bug is an error in a computer program that causes unexpected programs. Mission Force One likes the idea of creating a new game.

Miles decides to add in castles and knights, like a chessboard. Blodger decides to make some backgrounds with Haruna helping out. Loretta and Mirandos make some obstacles. Miles decides to make the villain, as his favorite thing about villains is they don't have to follow the rules, and the one he is making will do some crazy stuff. Miles makes it the smartest villain in the universe, and names it Grendel. After being told by Loretta what Grendel wants since every thief wants something, Miles decides for Grendel to take over the universe.

The GameMaster then activates Mission Force One's game. She then activates the emergency shut-off switch, since they always need a way to turn their games off. The goal of the game is whoever tags Grendel first wins. She then appears, and introduces herself as Grendel the Militissa, or female knight. She will use her many skills to escape the castle, and if Mission Force One tries to stop her, they will be sorry.

The game then begins, but Grendel activates her wings, which Miles is sure he didn't add. This is because Grendel programmed herself to do so. She says that Mission Force One has a gigantic problem, and that problem is her. When The GameMaster goes to hit the emergency shut-off switch, Grendel deactivates it. Grendel also locks the door out of the castle. Grendel announces that level two will arrive with a quickness.

Miles tells The GameMaster that he gave Grendel science, technology, engineering, arts, and math skills. The only way to stop Grendel is to win the game. Grendel then activates a red door and tells Mission Force One that in order to win, they must journey there. Grendel then makes the game harder by making the hall longer. The team must avoid being trapped in the cages Grendel is engineering, and as for math, they have four minutes to reach the door, which Grendel calls the ticking clock.

If at least one member of Mission Force One makes it to the red door before the time piece reaches zero, they will be happily freed. If they don't, they'll all be trapped in the hall forever. Miles tells Mission Force One that the game just got real and the mission is to win. The team then performs their signature catchphrase and activates their recruit suits' mission mode.

Miles tells the team that this is just like the holo-games they played a million times except for the being trapped forever thing. Mission Force One then begins the game. Miles and Loretta use their gadgets to deactivate flying shields. Grendel deactivates one, as well. Mirandos solidizes a sword for her and Blodger to deactivate more shields. Blodger shapeshifts himself into a shield for Mirandos to use. He then shields himself and Mirandos from the flying shields. Mirandos then touches a laser sensor, causing her and Blodger to get trapped in a cage.

The team then continues their quest to the red door. Loretta misses with her Holo-hex shot, and helps Haruna up when he falls off. However, a laser sensor touches Loretta, causing her and Haruna to get trapped. Loretta tells Miles and the GameMaster that they are Mission Force One's only hope.

With two minutes remaining, Grendel shows a display of her many talents. For science, she activates a hell-type background. For technology, engineering, and arts, she creates three different types of enemy robots, and uses her math to multiply the robots by five, making fifteen attackers. Miles tells Grendel that no matter how hard she makes the game, he and The GameMaster will win the game.

With one minute remaining, Miles and The GameMaster deactivate some of the attackers. The GameMaster distracts all of the robots. With less than twenty seconds remaining, Miles hops on an attacker, and The GameMaster gives it a push to the red door. He then deactivates the robots guarding the door before reaching there, winning the game and making it disappear.

Grendel tells Mission Force One that victory is theirs. She will not be taking over the universe today after all, and bids Mission Force One a fond farewell, for now. Miles apologizes for creating Grendel and causing so many problems. The GameMaster, however, thanks Miles for seeing that her system has a major bug. She needs a way to protect the shut-off switch so no one can block it. Miles decides to delete the Militissa, but it doesn't work.

Grendel then appears, and tells Mission Force One that she has escaped their game. Since she is the smartest villain in the universe, she will take over said universe. Grendel then pixelates herself into her sword before leaving. The episode ends with a concerned Mission Force One noticing what they saw, with Miles stating that there is a new villain on the loose.
