The Hoyt Sanitation Truck as it appears in The Wild
The Hoyt Sanitation Truck is a blue and white Garbage Truck that Samson, Bridget, Benny, Larry, and Nigel used to find Samson's son, Ryan after he was accidentally taken away in one of the "Green Boxes" in Walt Disney Pictures 2006 CGI film, The Wild.
Background[]
Physical Appearance[]
The truck's model is based on the International 4000-Series with a white cab and a big blue hopper in the back. On the back of the hopper are two forks which the truck uses to pickup big dumpsters and load the trash in at the top. The truck has 14 wheels; two in the front and twelve in the back which indicates it carries heavy loads of trash. The rear forks work pretty much like what a front loader garbage truck would work but the driver would have to know how to line up with the bin facing in reverse. It's possible there's a camera mounted on the rear so the driver would observe the camera's view in the cab so he'll know how to line up with a garbage bin.
Appearance[]
The truck was first seen picking up trash at the Central Park Zoo (also known as the New York Zoo) during the night, which was the time Ryan was accidentally taken in one of the Green Transport Boxes. After collecting the trash and setting the bin down, the truck leaves the zoo entrance and the gate closes behind it, just as Samson pops up (indicating he hid in the bin and waited to be loaded in) and looks back. Just then, Benny pops up telling Samson he knows every inch of New York City and gives directions to where the Statue Of Liberty is. Before he could finish, he was smacked off the truck by Bridget who rises up from inside the hopper, and rolls down the road till he's knocked out. Bridget tries to tell Samson that she, Larry, and Nigel are gonna help him but her lips were flapping from the wind, making it hard for her to talk. Samson was reluctant at first since he wanted to rescue Ryan on his own, but agrees to have his friends help him. When he mentions Benny, he realized that Benny was knocked off the truck after Bridget rose up. Just then, Bridget warns Samson that they should duck down because they're approaching a low bridge and Larry helped out to yell out her sentence and they all duck down.
After reaching the other side, the animals reemerge from the hopper and look on in wonder as they prepare enter the city streets of New York. The truck heads into Times Square where the animals get a glimpse of all the amazing sights it has to offer such as digital billboards with ads referencing real companies such as Airheads, Radio Disney, Quaker Oatmeal, and Toys R Us featuring Geoffrey The Giraffe. Samson spots a billboard featuring himself and Ryan on hit which makes him more worried for Ryan, just as Ryan feels worried about him as well while being loaded onto a ship. After driving through Times Square, the truck makes a stop on Fifth Avenue and prepares to crush the garbage with its powerful compactor. Samson tries to use Larry stop the compacter but it's too strong and orders everyone to get out. He first throws Larry, then Nigel (landing in a pile of cans) but Bridget couldn't get a hoof out to grab onto Samson's hand as the wall gets smaller. So Samson throws Larry onto the truck's hood, scaring the driver as he says "Aah! The Garbage! It lives! Aaaaah!" and bails from the truck, stopping the compacter. Samson opens the hopper's side compartment and Bridget gets out. The animals start walking away from the truck as Samson tries to memorize what Benny said where the Statute Of Liberty is. Bridget was unable to see due to the buildings being higher than herself and Nigel has a can stuck to his head as he tries to find his friends. After Samson takes the can off of Nigel's head, three rabid stray dogs ( Monty The Poodle, Jacques the Rottweiler and Raber the Boxer) emerge from behind the truck and start chasing the animals before being cornered in an alley. The protagonists eventually jump down into the sewers and escape from the dogs.
