Hurray for Disney Stars Parade was a daytime parade held at Disneyland during 1989. The parade celebrated the animated television shows of what would end up becoming The Disney Afternoon.
Units[]
Opening - The parade begins with the gateway to the "Disneywood Studios", featuring statues of Mickey and Minnie. The Big Bad Wolf tries to take control of the thriving crowd wanting to see the Disney Stars, while The Three Little Pigs and the Hippos from Fantasia go through the door to showcase their best shines. This is then followed with a float depicting the landscapes of "Disneywood", featuring thriving towers throughout the head office of Disneywood Studios, with the parade's main host Roger Rabbit introducing the three Disney Stars personally.
DuckTales - Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore set the camera ready on Soundstage 13 on the first show depicted in the parade. Of course, Scrooge McDuck's love for money is taken advantage here, as he rides a large mine cart full of over $10 million of cash, complete with a banner celebrating Launchpad McQuack's success in saving his money. Huey, Dewey, and Louie ride on a float with Launchpad McQuack in mine carts, as the Beagle Boys rise high on a giant airplane, with Dewey as pilot. This is followed up with a dogcatcher truck, containing a successfully captured Bankjob Beagle.
Finale - The parade ends with a grand old Gala Premiere at the Disneywood Studio Backlot Theatre. A special car with Mary Poppins and Bert riding away leads the way to the Theatre Foyre. Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and on some occasions Clara Cluck are all decked out in their Hollywood best, preparing to see the completed three shows in style.
Trivia[]
Much of the parade elements have been recycled from previous parades.
In the Adventures of the Gummi Bears unit, the wheelbarrows and tub were recycled from Snow White's Golden Anniversary Celebration. The main float used was featured in many previous Disneyland parades.
The main float in the Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers unit is recycled from the State Fair Parade.
