"I'll Fly the Skyway" is a song included in the Disneyland Records storybook and album set, The Story and Songs of the Orange Bird. Written by the Sherman Brothers and performed by Anita Bryant with the Mike Sammes Singers, it is heard during the part when the Orange Bird plans to fly south to make new friends who are friendly to him after being made fun of by a group of birds who were singing "Sing All Day" when his attempt to make new friends with the birds was a failure.
Lyrics[]
I'll fly the skyway
Over the beautiful highway
On my own, a rolling stone I'll be
Far, nicer places
Friendlier, happier faces
Are waiting down the skyway just for me
And where the highway ends
I'll make some brand-new friends
And oh, the fun we'll have when I flutter down
No one will think it absurd
That I'm an Orange Bird
Unable to speak a word or utter a sound
Oh, I'll fly the skyway
Follow the beautiful highway
'Til I find some friendly company
My heart is full of elation
At the wonderful vacation
Waiting down the skyway for me!
(chorus)
Oh, I'll fly the skyway
Over the beautiful highway
On my own, a rolling stone I'll be
Far, nicer places
Friendlier, happier faces
Are waiting down the skyway just for me
And where the highway ends
I'll make some brand-new friends
And oh, the fun we'll have when I flutter down
No one will think it absurd
That I'm an Orange Bird
Unable to speak a word or utter a sound
(chorus)
Oh, I'll fly the skyway
Follow the beautiful highway
'Til I find some friendly company
My heart is full of elation
At the wonderful vacation
Waiting down the skyway for me!
(repeat verse above)
